The pair didn't really occurred to me before, however, I mentioned the show to my mother and she said "I always knew Velma and Shaggy would get together." XD
That's probably because she grew up on the first series. The original series actually had quite a few small hints at them being an item. I'm a big fan of the original show, and it's obvious that the Mystery Incorporated team took a lot of inspiration from it (mainly in Velma's more sarcastic personality).
I also find it funny how Shaggy's parents seemed to be very up tight and high class while Shaggy is so Shaggy.
Shaggy's parents seem to have a freaky side, too. "Still Life Night" is still burned into my mind. >_<
