Title: Hug a day
Series: Slayers
Characters: Zelgadis/Amelia
Prompt: Hugs
Rating: G
"Mister Zelgadis, does it bother you when I hug you?"
Zelgadis stopped stirring his tea. He looked up at Amelia from across the table. "What do you mean?"
Amelia blushed as she twiddled her thumbs. "I realize it's silly to bring up now, but it just occurred to me that you might not like me hugging you when I greet you." She folded her arms on the table. "No one else does it."
That was true. If Lina or Gourry were to suddenly surprise him with a hug, he'd probably twitch with shock. Granted, it wasn't as if he was against receiving hugs. He certain had plenty enough as a child. It was really when he became a teenager and started to train with a sword he began to feel awkward about them. He never cared about the issue and frankly never gave it much though. Only Amelia would ever think it was an issue.
He paused in thought. Actually, Amelia would be one of the few people who would be willing to hug a stone covered chimera.
After his transformation into a chimera, he honestly never thought of hugs again, at least not until Amelia came over to greet him with a hug after not seeing him for six months. He couldn't help but think Rodimus and Zolf would have laughed at the sight of a cute girl hugging him.
"Mister Zelgadis?"
Zelgadis coughed, forcing himself to break his train of thought. "Um...no, it doesn't bother me."
Amelia seem to brighten. "It doesn't?"
Zelgadis shrugged. "No, hug me all you want."
Amelia beamed. "In that case, I'll try to hug you once a day then. You don't nearly get them enough."
Zelgadis choked on his mouthful of tea. "Now, wait a second."
Amelia wasn't listening. "Sorry, I need to find Miss Lina for shopping, but I'm glad we cleared this up." Amelia dashed out of the door.
Zelgadis sighed and stared into his teacup. He gave a half smile. "...I suppose a hug once a day isn't a bad thing."
Title: Water Fight
Series: How To Train Your Dragon
Characters: Astrid, Hiccup and Toothless
Prompt: Caring for their dragons
Rating: G
Hiccup pulled on Toothless's tail. He grunted as his dragon growled and fought back. "Come on, boy! We need to do this." Toothless growled and flicked his tail.
Hiccup stumbled as the tail slipped free. He glared as Toothless ducked behind a tree and peeked suspiciously back at him.
Hiccup sighed and turned his head. "Astrid, any luck with yours?"
Astrid screamed in frustration as her dragon spun and dodged her. The dragon dashed pass her and joined Toothless in his hiding place.
Astrid twitched. "How do you think it's going?"
Hiccup climbed to his feet and turned to the dragon. "Look guys, we know you hate baths, but both of you smell like troll's feet."
Toothless hissed.
"Don't look at us," Astrid snapped back. "You two are the ones that decided to sleep in stink weed, not us."
Astrid glanced to the large wooden tub of water and back to the dragons. "There's nothing to be scared of guys." An idea struck her. "Just watch Hiccup do it."
"That's right just watch...Hey, what do you mean-"
Astrid shoved Hiccup into the water. He gripped the edge while he coughed and splashed as the dragons stared in awe.
Astrid raised an arm as if she was showing off a large fish. "See, Hiccup's fine. There's nothing to be scared of."
Hiccup smirked as he brushed back his wet bangs. "They have nothing to be scared of, but I wouldn't say the same for you."
Hiccup grabbed Astrid's arm. With a yelp, he pulled her into the water. She fell head in first, As soon as her head broke the surface, she pounced on Hiccup. "You jerk! What was that for?"
He splash water back at her. "You started it?"
Astrid grinned evilly. "This is war!" The two began to scream war cries and began a battle of splashing and dunking each other in the water.
The dragons blinked in confusion and sat to watched the strange humans.
Title: How to Start a Tradition
Series: Tangled
Characters: Eugene/Rapunzel
Prompt:Eugene has to explain what Christmas is to Rapunzel
Rating: G
Rapunzel trusted Eugene. She knew he was straight now and she knew he probably had a good reason for dragging her out in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve.
She couldn't help but be suspicious over the large sack he carried. Rapunzel still wasn't sure how this was suppose to help her fully understand Christmas.
She and Gothel had never celebrated Christmas. She was pleasantly surprised when her mother explained the holiday to her. Rapunzel thought it sounded wonderful, but she kept fretting about if the knitted scarf for Eugene, the handmade dress and vase were good enough presents for her parents. It was her first Christmas and she wanted it to be perfect. Rapuznel feared that she should be getting far more extravagant gifts.
Eugene kept insisting that her handmade gifts were fine, but it didn't ease her worry. So, Eugene promised he would show her the true meaning of the holiday on Christmas Eve as long as she didn't change her presents.
Curious, Rapuznel promised and true to his word, Eugene appeared in her room carrying a large sack and took her out into the streets. She kept wanting to question what was in the sack, but she figured Eugene would tell her eventually.
The windows in the streets were lit with candles on windowsills. A wreath of holly hung on each door they passed. Eugene finally stopped at a corner, far down town.
Smiling madly, Eugene put down the sack. "Okay, now we can begin."
Rapunzel folded her arms. She had it with the secrecy. "Begin what?"
Eugene opened the sack. "A little holiday tradition of mine, here you'll need to wear these." He handed her a white wig, a par of glasses and a cloak.
Rapunzel raised an eyebrow. "Are you trying to make me an accomplice? You do remember I've been reading the book of laws right?" She been reading a lot in the royal library. She had finished reading about the kingdom's history, the latest journal on scientific discovery and the book with everything you needed to know to make a perfect cupcake. The Snugly Duck bandits had highly recommended it to her.
Eugene pulled out a long white beard and a strange large red suite. "This is legal...well mostly. Just trust me, you'll like it." His eyes strangely soften as he peeked around the corner. "See the large old building there?"
Rapunzel looked to where he pointed. The building looked ancient and it was in dire need for a new coat of paint. Yet, there was an odd homey feel to the place. However, there didn't seem anything incredible about it.
Eugene placed a hand on his shoulder as she pondered. "That place, is the orphanage I grew up in."
Rapunzel's eyes widen. She'd been wanting to see where Eugene's childhood home for a long time, but he would always avoided the subject. Why did he bring her here tonight?
As if reading her mind, Eugene fiddled with the fake beard between his fingers. "Punzie, I am going to let you in onto a secret. A deep secret that I thought I would take to my grave."
"Oh?" Rapunzel asked intrigued.
He took a deep breath. "I have a third identity. See, we didn't have a lot growing up in the orphanage on a regular basis so you can imagine how little we got when Christmas time came around... okay, maybe you can't since this is your first Christmas, but trust me they weren't great."
"What does that have to do with this?" Rapunzel asked, holding up the wig.
Eugene rubbed his neck. "Well, when I left I kind of wanted to ensure the future kids here would have a better Christmas than I did." He blushed. "So, on Christmas Eve I give them some toys."
Rapunzel's eyes widen. She held her hands and brightened. "Oh, Eugene that is so sweet."
"You mean really cliche. Why do you think we're sneaking in a night? Giving toys to orphans? I would be mortified if people find out the great Flynn gave toys to orphans. They think I was going soft."
Rapunzel rolled her eyes. "So?"
"So, I decided to lower the risk of being recognized, I wear this disguise and came up with a new name." He puffed out his chest. "For one night of the year, I am Nick Claus!"
Rapunzel blinked. "Nick Claus?"
He shook his hands. "I know, I know, it's dumb but it was the only name I could come up with at the time."
Rapunzel stared at the disguise she she held. "So, why am I here?"
"Well, I thought this would be the best way to explain what Christmas is about without sounding real cheesy." He took the glasses and put them on Rapunzel. "I thought you could be Mrs. Claus."
Rapunzel laughed and tapped her chin. "I suppose I could and I don't think this would be breaking any laws, well besides breaking and entering."
He sighed. "Note, for Christmas get you more fun books to read," Eugene replied as he slipped on his coat. "Now, let's get going. It won't be night forever."
It didn't take long for them to put on their disguises. The wig was itchy, but it was not unbearable. Eugene picked the locked and the pair quietly snuck in. They went into the room where a small tree stood. It was not as grand as the other Christmas trees Rapunzel had seen. There were no gold or silver ornaments. Dried berries and a chain of popcorn wrapped around were the only decorations. It held a simple charm to it.
Eugene opened his sack and whispered "Punzie, help me put these presents under the tree."
She reached into the bag and brought out a small doll. She noticed a small tag with a neatly written name hung from the arm. "You put name tags on them too?"
Eugene blushed. "Well, I had to make sure each kid knew whose presents was whose."
Rapunzel smiled. Eugene had surprisingly put a lot of thought into this. She reached into a bag to pull out another toy, when a small gasp froze her.
She and Eugene turned their heads. Peeking through the stairway railing was a small girl, no older than five. "Mister Claus? Is that you?"
Rapunzel froze, unsure what to say. Thankfully, Eugene jumped into character. "That's right little girl, but you should be bed."
The girl continued to stared at them stunned. "I thought the big kids made you up." Her gaze locked onto the doll in Rapunzel's hand. "Is that dolly for me?"
"Yes," Eugene answered. "But I won't be able to leave it here for you unless you're in bed."
The girl began to turn and scramble up the stairs. "Oh, oh, I'll go to bed right now!" She turned and showed the biggest smile Rapunzel had ever seen. "Thank you Mister Claus and uh..."
Rapunzel cleared her throat. "I'm Mrs. Claus."
"Right!" The girl dashed up the steps. "Wait until I tell Mike."
As soon as the girl was gone, Eugene slumped. "Man, that was a close one. Okay, let's finish this and get out of here before anyone else wakes up."
Rapunzel's eyes stayed where the girl had stood. She'd never seen anyone look so happy and all because she was getting nothing more than a small doll. She stroked and gently placed the doll in it's spot.
Once they were done and has successfully escaped, Eugene yanked off his beard. "Another successful Christmas Eve!"
Rapunzel beamed. "Did you see how happy that girl was? Just think how the other kids will react in the morning."
Eugene smiled and wrapped his arms around her. "See what I meant when I said you didn't have to worry over gifts so much? Think you have a better understanding about Christmas now?"
Rapunzel nodded. Slowly, she tapped her chin. "Hey, next year, let's do more houses."
Eugene blinked. "What do you mean?"
"Well, why don't we give toys to the kids in the poor district a toy too?" She grinned madly. "Just think how happy they all would be!"
Eugene coughed. "Um...it's a nice thought but-"
"Even better, let's do all the kids in the whole town." She gasped. "No, let's give a toy to every child in the kingdom!"
Eugene's jaw dropped and he rubbed his eyes. "Why do I have a feeling I created a monster."
Rapunzel ignored his comment as she daydream about next Christmas Eve.
