I would blame half on exhaustion, and who would predict that something would possess Zel's old body. XP
I imagine he'll have mixed feelings about the fact that he'll be a lot weaker physically now.
*grins* You hit the nail on the head. That's one of the main issues that's going to be addressed in this story. As for the spirit, it's probably around chapter 5 the identity is revealed, but there should be some hints along the way.
I will say this, the spirit isn't an original character. It's someone who died in the anime. ^_~
