The best thing about dresses that you either have made specifically for you or you make yourself is that you can customize them any way you want. I remember surfing patterns while I was looking for a wedding dress...and then ended up buying one. ^^;;

I think my biggest issue was finding bridesmaids dresses, as both of my bridesmaids are tall and size stick. (And one of them was only thirteen at the time, so I had to find an age appropriate dress for her.) I ended up going with a pattern reprint from the 1930s that had fully covered backs and higher neckline and sleeves vs. any of the super short, backless, plunging dresses that happened to be in style at that time.

Anyway, I do love that dress. It's classy and elegant and transcends time, which means grand kids won't look at it and go, "Ugh, what are you wearing?!"
