Usagi Drop Anime!

I had to post this before going to bed. I just found out that the manga/novel series Usagi Drop is getting an anime version now.

Usagi anime

Here's the summary:

30-year-old bachelor Daikichi comes home for his grandfather's funeral to discover a little girl named Rin in his garden. Rin is the 6-year-old illegitimate daughter of Daikichi's grandfather, and Daikichi decides to take her in when no one in the family accepts the responsibility.

I've read most of the manga and it's just sweet. It's basically a slice of life series about Daikichi taking care of Rin as she grows up (the manga does go into when Rin is a teenager). I haven't read the original novels, but the manga is very cute and a fun read. The story is mostly about Daikichi learning what it means to become a parent and the trials that come with it. (Calling in at work when your kid is sick, paranoid of what could happen to your kids, etc.) It's not an original story, but it's good when you want something to just make you smile. I'll be looking forward to see this animated.

Wow. That sounds like a nice change of pace from all the shows about super-powered teenagers that are currently saturating the anime market. I'll have to give this one a look.

I think that's what I like about it is the change of pace. There's no unneeded fanservice or giant robots, it's just about life. I read the manga online, but apparently Yen Press has translated the manga (which I didn't realize.) I recommend reading the manga, if you like that, you'll probably like the anime.

This does sound like a cute series! Has the manga been translated into English?

Like I need another manga series to collect like I need a hole in my head.

I had read the manga online, but apparently Yen Press has been translating the manga too. Now I want to get it too. (Never mined that I want to try to save money. XP )

Tell me about it! ^_~ The funny thing about Rin is that her mother is still alive, she's just not made to be a parent.

The series is definitely worth a read.
