Some Shaggy/Velmaness for Brendala

A while ago, I wrote a Shaggy/Velma drabble for [livejournal.com profile] brendala and since then she's been poking me to do a follow up drabble for it. Well, I finally got around to write. So, here ya go [livejournal.com profile] brendala I hope you like it! ^_^

Title: Dinner For Two
Series: Scooby-doo
Characters: Velma/Shaggy, Scooby-doo
Rating: G

"Come on Velma," Shaggy replied as he reached into his pocket for his house key. "Like, you don't really believe Scooby is trying to pair us up?"

Velma folded her arms as she followed Shaggy into his house. "Shaggy, think about it." She began to count on her fingers "Scooby insisting on a walk when he can take his own, wanting a leash when he hates them and then the cat? It's all very suspicious."

Shaggy hung his house key onto his hamburger shaped key holder. "But it doesn't make sense. Why would Scooby bother doing that?"

Velma shrugged. "No clue, but..." She paused and turned her head towards the door that lead to the dining room. "Jinkies, do I hear music?"

Shaggy sniffed. "Never mind that, like, I smell garlic bread and pasta!" He licked his lips and opened the door.

Velma shook her head, wondering if she should point out that Shaggy had just eaten three sundaes, but knew it was pointless. Shaggy did have the bottomless pit stomach.

Velma entered and blinked along with a puzzled Shaggy. A candle lit dinner had been set at the small dining table. A pair of white candles burning between two plates filled with steaming hot pasta and a basket of garlic bread.

"Did Scob made this?" Shaggy muttered, scratching his head.

Velma raised a lip to her lips as she listened to the soft violin music. She followed the sound to the closet. She waited for Shaggy to catch up and on a silent count to three flung the door wide opened.

Scooby yelped in shock almost dropping the violin before tucking it behind his back.

"Scooby, when did you learn to play the violin?" Shaggy asked.

"Never mind that," Velma asked. "Scooby-doo, what have you been up to?"

Scooby reached for his tail and played it between his paws. "Rell..."

"Have you been trying to set Shaggy and I up on a date?"

Scooby gave a sheepish nod.

Velma patted his head. "Scooby, why?"

"Rou are rerfect for each other."

Velma adjust her glasses. "Scooby, you're not making sense. What made you think that?" She shrugged. "It's not like Shaggy and I have ever mentioned we would be interested in that, right Shaggy?"

Shaggy became quiet and tugged at his shirt collar.

"Shaggy?" Velma asked curious.

"Um..well...um I like might have mentioned to Scooby that sometimes I wonder of how you and I...would be like as a couple," Shaggy blushed bright red as he stared at his twiddling thumbs.

Velma stared dumbfounded. "Y-you have?"

Shaggy raised his hands in defense and offered a nervous laugh. "Yeah, I know, like totally stupid. There's no way-"

"It's not stupid!" Velma snapped and blushed as she realized how loud she was.

She fixed her glassed as both Shaggy and Scooby stared with interest. "Shaggy," she began. "You are one of my best friends, and from what I read the best and most happiest couples often start out as friends." She began staring at her own feet. "So..um logically we could become a couple."

"Y-you think so," Shaggy replied amazed at what he was hearing.

"Sure," Velma replied and then smirked. "Just as long you're not actually a bad guy wearing a mask."

Shaggy laughed. "I swear on my recipe book I'm not."

Scooby cleared his throat and pointed his tail at the table, wearing a huge grin. "Rinner?"

Velma and Shaggy glanced to each and exchange a small smile. "No point letting it go to waste," said Velma.

Shaggy offered an arm and Velma both blushed and laughed as he escorted her to the table. She could already hear Daphne squealing in joy when she talked to her tomorrow.

Dang. I leave the internet for a few days and look what I missed!

Loved the story! It was super cute and totally worth the wait! And I just adore your shipper-Scooby. ^_^

Best of all, this story helped to wash away some of the bad taste left over from the-show-that-shall-not-be-named.

Oh, PS, I loved the bit where Velma asked Shaggy to confirm that he wasn't a crook in a mask. XD
