Slayers Abridged Review Episode 11

For those wondering, I'm over the worst phase of my cold. I still have a lingering cough, but my voice is pretty much back. Here's hoping it will be gone in another couple of days.

Anyway, here it is.





Where we last left our heroes, they were chasing after Pokota. And this reviewer starts humming the Superman theme music because it goes too well with this screencap.



We get an Ozel and Pokota moment, which is rather sweet.



More Ozel/Rezo hinting!!



While searching for Pokota, the gang gets attacked by the awaiting companion cube. Those things can get dangerous when angry.



WARNING!! WARNING!! Abandon ship! XELLOS OPENED HIS EYES!!



...There's something odd about Gourry getting attacked by his own (or what should be) weapon



I am not yet dead! I can dance and I can sing! I am not yet dead! I can do the highland fling!



"NNNOOO!!" echoes the agony of a million Ozel fans! I liked her. ;_;

This episode was brilliant simply because of Xelloss's terrifyingly awesome mental switchover to psychotic. SO subtle and yet so sudden, LOL!

And I shall forever have nightmares because of it... Seriously though, that was pretty cool that he did suddenly become that scary just from opening his eyes! He usually seems so casual and carefree, I think sometimes it's easy to forget what his true nature is..

Agreed one hundred percent! I sometimes tire of people trivializing Xelloss as either harmless puckish trickster, or muderous psychopath. He's kinda both simultaneously, depending on his assignment and disposition at the time, which is why he's so damn cool.

Exactly. He's such a mixed bag, but overall, if you mess with the guy he's not going to laugh it off and let you live. *cringe* That's why I despise his portrayal in fanfics, but love to hate him in the anime and novels!

Hm yes, most fanfictions don't do him justice. I've always tried to do so in my own fanfictions, but there is a tendency to overgeneralize for sure!

Lol I'm horrible, I STILL love him in the novels and manga and anime, fully aware of the depths to which he sinks. I think it's because mazoku are SO over-the-top evil that you almost have to laugh it off as surreal and parodic. In real life I'd probably despise him, LOL!

I have read a few fanfics that did him justice, but most seem to be the kind where he's more annoying than anything. I always have to return to the canon to remind myself that he's not as lovesick/foolish/frustrating as some authors like to write him..

(I like loving to hate him, he's a very good villain! In real life, I'd want absolutely nothing to do with him at all...and random, but I love the Xellos icons.)

Exactly! Really, Xellos is probably one of the scariest characters in the whole series just because he can switch between the two so easily.
