Favorite Episode


This was really hard to pick, but I decided to go with Slayers Next, episode 17, They're Talking About A Girl Named Zelgadis?!



First off, not only do we get to see Gourry in drag this episode (which by itself is often hilarious) but we also get to see Zel and Xellos and that just adds to the humour. I also like how this episode does focus quite a bit on Zelgadis and we get to see Amelia's jealously and the humour in this is great.

My only complaint is that I would have liked to see Amelia confront Zelgadis about his attraction to Miwan and see her resolve her jealousy. I realize that might have gone too much in the romance territory than the writers would have liked, but I can't see it being any more than what they did in the Fishman episode when Lina was upset that Gourry was staying with the fish family. Also, they probably needed more time than one episode, but hey I like to dream.

Favorite Spell



I was going to pick Dragon Slave, but then I remember the Ragna Blade. First off, it's a literally a sword made out of energy from the Lord of Nightmares and also the incantation itself is rather neat. I just like it.

Favorite Character that only appeared in one episode. (Anime or OVA)



Okay, this is sort of an on going joke between Stu and I, but we both love Golder the Dark Knight that was in Geoffrey's Knighthood. I think have of the credit has to go to his voice actor but Stu and I both really like him for some reason.

I think it's because he's not really a villain. He said he was only working for his master because he was the only person to defeat him in battle, until Geoffrey's mother came along and thus caused him to switched sides. He's really just looking for a good fight and I like some of the comments he made throughout the episode.

I like to think that at the end of the episode Golder went "Yeah, this family is insane, I'm getting out of this crazy place" along with Lina and Naga. I know most people probably don't even remember this guy, but I've always really liked him.

Favorite Season


This is tricky, but it's actually a tie between Slayers Next and Slayers Revolution/Evolution-R.

First off, since the gang met each other in the first season, Next is really when they get their group chemistry going. It has some of the best scenes for both gags and touching moments, while having a good plot at the same time with a great season finale. (I love how Gourry goes after Lina every time, always gets me a little teary eyed.) Next is classic, I love rewatching it over and over again.

Okay, now Revolution/Evolution-R (and really it's the same season that got divided into two parts.) I know a lot of fans don't care for this season and I agree that bringing Rezo back was a cliche move when they writers could have found a way to bring in perhaps Dynast, Sherra, etc. (And I want to see Gourry get the blast blade in anime form dang it!)

However, since it's been ten years since the original anime came I try to look at those aspects as the writers trying to bring in new fans. I still wish they could have used villains and plot points from the later novels, but I can understand the writer's logic and we can hope the later novels will get animated in one way or another.

So, why do I like Revolution/Evolution-R? First off, I like how group just feels so relaxed around each other at this point. I know some Z/A fans said there wasn't as many blushing moments as there was in Next and Try, but I think them not blushing actually shows how much closer they've gotten. Heck, from how they act you can easily believe they're a couple off screen cause Zelgadis and Amelia do act like a couple that's been together for awhile.

Lina and Gourry got quite a few good moments too, plus we got some great new characters in both Wizer and Pokota. I still love the fact that after wishing they would get Dan Green to voice Wizer they actually got Dan Green for it. I will admit I like Pokota more than Filia because Pokota does become the central figure of the plot as much as Filia did. Both Filia and Pokota were important to their plots, but Filia seemed to take more attention from the plot than Pokota.

And finally, we saw Nama/Naga. Let's face it, that's probably as close as we're going to get to see Naga interact with the main group, and to have Naga and Amelia together on screen without the universe exploding.

Least Favorite Ship
I have to leave for work early tomorrow, so I figured I get it done a day early.


I'm rather opened minded when it comes to pairings, however, I just can't get why some people ship Rezo/Zel. It's just, no, just no. This pairing makes my head hurt. @_@

Favorite Ship


Anyone who knows me well, knows that Zelgadis/Amelia is my favorite Slayers ship. Why? I guess I'm just a sucker for a grumpy guy with a cheerful girlfriend pairing. They just have a natural interaction with each, and I love how Zelgadis gets much more relaxed around Amelia in the later season. In Revolution, who else but Amelia would be able to hold Zelgadis in a headlock to stop him from burning down a forest.

Favorite Ending Song


I just like how in the Slayers Revolution ending all of the characters are being reflected in one of Lina's talismans. I just think it's a cute idea and the tune is rather catchy. Also, I like the added detail of the diagram showing the mazoku lords and you noticed how two of them have been scratched out. XD

Day 2- Least Favorite Character


I had to think REALLY hard on this question because while there are characters I don't care for as much, there are none I really hate...until I remembered the Dragon Elder from Slayers Try. Man, I can't stand this guy's logic.

I get that maybe the writers were trying to raise controversy by having the Elder seem to reason that the cost of some lives is worth it to save the world. Except, when you think about his actions they don't make sense. He basically killed off an entire race because he was paranoid of their power and using a Darkstar weapon, although someone could just as easily be paranoid and try to kill off the golden dragons for the same reason. With that said, before the Elder came on screen the other Golden Dragons such as Milgasia seemed WAY more reasonable.

Then, when it's revealed that Almace wants to get the Darkstar weapons to summon Darkstar, the Elder is more than happy to hand over the weapons (not even letting Lina and the gang have a say in the matter) as long as Almace promises to not summon him in their world. Here's a question, how did the Elder know Almace would keep his word? Later on, we can sort of tell Almace probably would have, but no one knew anything about him at the time. Seems like a big risk to take on just presuming this powerful being that you know nothing about will keep his word. Then of course, there's the bonus fact of how the Elder had no problem sacrificing another world to save their own. I'm certain Prince Phil would have had a few words with his fists if he was there.

With that said, how much do you want to bet that if this had happened, someone from that world that Almace had used instead would have found a way to get to the Golden Dragons to have their revenge. Thus, this only creates another threat to their world. I realize the chances of it happening are high, but this is Slayers. This did have a good chance of happening. Although, one wonders if the Elder would have survived after the Slayers gang was freed. Hello Lina's wrath! If he had taken and given away the Sword of Light there is NO WAY Lina or Gourry would have just let that go.

Then there's the fact that the Elder doesn't regret his actions at all. If he had shown some remorse at the end I probably would have felt more sympathetic, but to his dying breath he claims he did no wrong. This character was just not likeable at all.

After seeing a bunch of 30 Challenge memes going around (there's a Princess Tutu one I want to do after this) I realize that I haven't seen one for Slayers yet. So, I went ahead and made one. I went ahead and posted this in theslayers community too. If anyone is more than welcome to join me on this if want. ^_^
1) Favorite Character




I can't deny that Zelgadis is my favorite character, although both Amelia and Lina come in a close second. I don't know know I like him so much, maybe it's his backstory, maybe I enjoy his sarcastic comments and interaction with the group. Maybe I just enjoy writing *cough*tormenting*cough* him in fanfction. Regardless of the reason, I just like him.

He has a neat character design and you do feel bad for him, especially when you see the flashback of the happy human version of him in Slayers Evolution-R. If I could control the universe, we would see the story of how Kanzaka would plan to have Zelgadis restored to being a human. He has stated in interviews he did have a story for it, but it would take too long to write was the reason he hasn't written it. (I believe that's the reason, my memory is fuzzy)
