In Canada, today is Thanksgiving! Yay, turkey! Yum! It's been a busy weekend, Stu and I got to take part in his Dad's wedding yesterday. He and his girlfriend have been together for years, so we were really happy to see them get married. It was a lovely wedding and we had a great time.

On tumblr, there's a Halloween challenge going on in which there's a list of monsters and you see on how many of them you can draw. I figured I would give it a shot. Granted, I'll probably make them into more cute monsters since I find I tend to draw cute things/animals better than I draw anything creepy/scary.

So far, I sketched a scarecrow and witch. I did managed to quickly colour the witch, but I doubt I will be able to colour all of them. I might try colouring some of them later when I have the time.

Drawings Ahead )

I've uploaded these to tumblr, but I figured I needed to share these here too.

Disney World Ahead )
eastofthemoon: (Booklover)
Stu and I are now back from Disney World and while we had a blast at Disney World, we are so very happy to be home again. I missed my laptop and May weather that is not hot and boiling.

Overall it was fantastic! I could probably spend hours talking about all the things we did. We did most of the Magic Kingdom on the Wednesday, but then went back on Friday to catch a few attractions we didn't have time for. I got to meet Merida and found an Angus horse doll, but sadly there was not Merida plushie for sell there. Turns out, those are only being sold in the Disney stores, not the parks which is weird. @_@

One neat thing that both Stu and I got a big kick out of was this interactive game they included in the park. To put it simply, you are given spell cards and help Merlin protect the Magic Kingdom from Hades and other Disney villains he recruited (Jafar, Cruella, Dr. Facilier, etc). You're then given a map that marks places in the park where a portal will open and you can cast spells to fight villains.

It was really fun, and someone told me they're thinking of making an actual Wii game out of it and I hope that's true. I got to defeat Maleficent with Eve's Laser from Wall-e. It was totally cool!

We also saw the Muppet 3D show twice, Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios, went around Animal Kingdom and Epcot, it was great. Stu and I also got to be really cheesy and share a lady and the tramp spaghetti kiss at Tony's Square (which is a restaurant based from the one in the movie.)

I will say though, I am SO GLAD I never went to Disney World as a kid and even though Stu and I would like a second visit someday, we're not taking any young kids with us. First of all, there is so much detail that a person just wouldn't be able to fully appreciate until they were older.

However, the biggest reason is how much stress is just causes for kids. With the heat, crowds and long lines it's a rather stressful place for a kid. I lost count on how many tantrums or crying breakdown I heard.

With that said, I would so never go to Disney World during the busy season. We went during one of the least busiest periods, so I don't even want to think about what the regular seasons are like.

Overall, honeymoon was great, but we're glad to be home.

Oh my gosh, what an amazing week. Megs and Mike are going to head back home in a few hours, and the whole thing has been a blast.

Stu and I spent Thursday showing them and Oldrik around downtown Fredericton and exploring shops like Chic Geek, Endeavours, etc. Friday the whole was fun and crazy since it was the day before the wedding and all of my and Stu's relatives were landing. We spent the evening over at Stu dad's place where they hosted a barbeque to welcome everyone.

Stu then stayed at his dad's over night and spent his bachelor night have a Dungeon and Dragons night with his brothers, Oldrik and Jon. Mom, Megs, my aunts, grandmother and I spent Saturday getting the reception hall ready before we went to get our hair done and ready.

Then of course we had the wedding which was incredible. My minister's speech was so heart warming and touching she almost had everyone crying. I'm so glad we had her did, she's a close friend of my family so she knew Stu and I really well and the vows fitted Stu and I perfectly.

Then on Sunday, my mom held a family brunch so Stu and I could open our wedding gifts with our family watching. I'm overwhelmed with the gifts we received, hopefully Stu and I will have our own place by next summer.

Tomorrow, Stu and I are off to Disney World, but neither of us are bringing our laptops with us, so we'll be offline for a week.

I do have pictures to show, but to tie you guys over until I get back, here are some awesome shots that Megs took with her camera.

Wedding Shots Ahead )

[Unknown site tag] uploaded a lot more of her photos of the trip Here Hopefully, this link works.

For those wondering, here's an update. It's been a great week so far. Stu and I have been having a blast showing Oldrik, Megs and Mike around Fredericton. We took them to our favorite shops around town and then went to have dinner at Issac's Way.

A neat thing happened at Strange Adventures, the local comic book shop. We found a copy of Women Anthology and Megs mentioned that she was one of the writers for one of the comics in it. The owner asked Megs if she could sign a copy for them. XD It was rather cool. The owner also seemed interested to check out Namesake too. It was fun.

Tomorrow night, there's going to be a barbeque at Stu dad's place where all of our relatives are going to meet and mingle and then the next day is the wedding. And don't worry, I promise plenty of pictures will be taken.

Well, it's starting.

We had the wedding rehearsal and it went really well. Our wedding party is really small, and everyone lives locally so it was easy to gather everyone up for it. I think the best part was when Stu's dad was skipping to Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah, the song that's going to play when Stu and I leave the church as husband and wife.

We're also throwing a dinner for my cousin boyfriend's graduation, so that should be fun.

Stu's long time friend Oldrik will be landing tomorrow night and then [personal profile] savvyliterate and [personal profile] gigabahamut666 land on Wednesday. Currently plan is to take them on a tour of downtown on the Thursday and go out to dinner with our friend Jon, but we'll wait and see how that goes.

Also, I just learned that not only will there be Brave merchandise at Disney World, but there is currently a Merida character at Epcot too when Stu and I go.

I'm SO hunting down a Merida plushie. ^_^

I can't believe that Stu and I just have a couple of weeks till the wedding. @_@ We just got about everything done. Stu and I are slowly packing things for Disney World and we're busy cleaning the house from top to bottom. We've painted rooms that haven't been painted in years.

I also spent the afternoon baking cookies to have around for guest and the brunch my mom is throwing the day after the wedding. This will just be the party that never stops.

Stu and I also need to practice dancing for our first dance. We picked "Can You Feel The Love Tonight." We figured with the Disney World trip as our honeymoon, it was fitting.

Stu and I are planning to see The Avengers tomorrow. From what I heard, it sounds awesome and one of the best movies of the year so far. I can't wait to see it.

I'm back from shopping in the states! My main goal was finding a couple of dresses to wear for the party the night before the wedding and for the Sunday brunch my mother is throwing the day after the wedding. And I found them, for an awesome price. This was a double treat because this meant I had enough in my budget to buy Jellyfish Princess DVD set. I've been dying to get it for ages, but I made getting my dresses the priority.

I also found a king size quilt for $30 and some cute and comfy shoes to wear for the wedding. It's three weeks away! I can't believe!

In fandom news, there's going to be a new Super Best Friends Forever short this weekend.

Laura Faust linked an article about it here HERE

It's about Supergirl and looks like Superman guest stars too. Can't wait!
eastofthemoon: (cupcake)
My family has gotten quite a bit of stuff done for the wedding. We finished making the star pew markers, we met with the photographer and explained we just want casual shots, and we made chocolate stars that are going a top of the slices of cake Stu and I will be handing out.

I can't believe it's only a couple of months away! Mom and I plan to go to a quick trip to Maine and back later in April just to find some nice clothes for the party Stu's having the day before the wedding, and for the brunch my Mom will be having for Stu and I to open gifts after the wedding.

I broke down and watched Korra and it is awesome!
Avatar spoilers )

I have a fun couple of weeks to look forward to as well. I'm making a carrot cake in the shape of a bunny for Easter dessert. Then the week after that is my birthday. My birthday is on Friday, 13th which is fitting because I was actually born on Friday 13th.

Needless to say, spring of 2012 is going to be an interesting time for me. XD

Also, I already posted this on tumblr, but I have to share it here too. A parody of Bad Romance, but it's about the Women's Suffrage. It's really good.

Today, I had a VERY busy day. My future mother-in-law threw me a bridal shower and both my grandmother and my aunt from Nova Scotia came up for it.

It was really fun, although at first I felt a little awkward being the center of attention (I can't imagine why some people think I'm similar to Fluttershy) however the games my mother brought really helped break the ice and I relaxed quite a bit. I got some lovely gifts and I can't believe I'm suppose to get more for the wedding too!

I should also explain that here in the Maritimes, there is a tradition that at a bridal shower the bride-to-be has to wear a bow bonnet, which is a hat that is made out of the bows from the bridal shower presents.

So, here is me wearing the bow bonnet

My Lovely Bonnet )

Overall, it was really fun.

I'm also currently debating if I want to watch the new Korra episode that KorraNation has released.
A part of me is tempted to watch it now, but the other part of is thinking that if I watched the episodes now I have to wait a WHOLE MONTH before I can see another new episode. (Plus, the actual air date is the weekend of my birthday so it would double as a birthday treat to myself.)

Decisions, decisions. Course, I have the new season of Thundercats to keep me occupied until the new episodes of Korra are out

Stu and I got both a PS3 and Tales of Graces. We have been thinking of getting a PS3 for awhile (there are a couple of games, but I also like the idea of using it for a blu-ray player.) Thankfully, we were able to get a used one at a good place.

We're only in the first couple of hours in the game, so it's not far storywise. Although, I am already liking the characters. Plus, they kept the singer in the opening like they did with Vesperia. I was glad to see that.

For wedding plans, all the invitations have been sent out and now we're just in the final stages. Stu and I have decided that our first dance is going to be to Can You Feel The Love Tonight and I will be walking up the aisle to Candle on the Water

We still have to make pew markers, make chocolate stars for the cake, etc. Stu and I are planning to get our marriage license done on Friday so that's one more thing of the list. Also, a week from this Saturday my future mother-in-law is going to be giving me a bridal shower. I can't wait! ^_^

The wedding is just a couple of months away, I can't believe it.
eastofthemoon: (zel blush)
Today I had the day off, so Mom and I used the day to get a couple of things done for the wedding. The big thing is that we got the wedding invitations ordered and they should be printed by next week. They're very simple and elegant, I love.

I also got a Disney song book for me to walk down the aisle and when Stu and I signed the wedding register. I've been debating and keep changing my mind on what the music should be, but I think we settled on playing Bella Notte after Stu and I are married, and just to have a variety of Disney love songs playing when I walk down. My cousin is a great piano player so I know she'll be able to pull it off easily.

Mom and I figured the guests can have fun trying to recognize each song that's playing, besides it fits since Stu and I are going to Disney World for our honeymoon.

Also, since I've come to the conclusion that I can't wear contacts to save my life (seriously, my blinking reaction is just too strong) so I decided to get non-reflective lenses for my glasses. The best part is that they were half priced today which is great, so now I don't have to worry about light reflecting from my glasses for photos. I told Stu in case he wanted to get them too, but he said he doesn't care about that. Typical guy reaction. XP

So, we got quite a few things scratched off the list. Still need to pick songs to play at the reception, make a seating plan and a few other variant things.

I can't believe the wedding is just 4-5 months away. Time is flying by.

And on an unrelated note, I ended up rewatching Jim Henson's The Frog Prince on youtube. I wish this, and the other Jim Henson fairytales, would get release onto DVD. The Frog Prince was actually rather clever. The princess is under a spell that causes her to speak backwards, the witch wants to become queen, also Kermit is way more sarcastic in these fairytale specials than he is now. Oh, Jim Henson, you were great for so many reason.

Jim Henson's Frog Prince also had something Disney's The Princess and The Frog was seriously lacking. A battle of the frogs tackling the main villain! I always loved that part as a kid. XD

Here's part 1, parts 2-5 are easily found on youtube.

A few years ago, Mom told me that I would be entering a phase of my life when it seems everyone I know is either getting married or having kids. I know I'm in the phase now, because I found out that my cousin from my mom's side is pregnant with her first child. She was also the first one among my cousins to get married too, so we've been expecting this for awhile.

Still, everyone is pretty excited since this will be the first grand child in my mom's side of the family. (My grandmother is look forward to being a great grandmother apparently. XD) I just learned how to crochet and once I'm done the blanket I'm making for myself, I'm thinking about trying to make a baby blanket for her as a gift.

Update on the wedding plans, we've booked the plane tickets for the honeymoon in the Disney. We're going to book the hotel reservation later this month, but the travel agent Stu and I talked to said we didn't have to worry about buying tickets or meal plans just yet. She suggested we might want to wait and see if there would be any special deals around that time anyway.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] secondlina was awesome and finished the design for my wedding invitations. You can see them HERE [livejournal.com profile] dqbunny has kindly offered to design and type the information on the invitations for me. Hopefully, I'll be able to sit down and decide what should say on the cards this week. (Sorry for the wait Megs! ^_^; ) My ultimate goal is to have the invites sent out by November.

All in all, wedding plans are going smoothly.

This has been a busy, for me. We celebrated Stu's birthday on Labour Day (since I had the day off) with pizza and playing Super Mario Bros on the wii with Jon. He got a few nice things including season 3 and 4 of Reboot from me, a Discword soundtrack and a rice cooker from my mother. This was good timing because Stu had recently found an old Japaneses and Korean cook book that belonged to his mom and he wants to try it out.

Also, I got the steampunk My Little Pony shirt that I had ordered a few weeks ago. I don't normally order clothes from the internet because I'm paranoid of them not fitting me when I get them, but it fits like a glove.

For those curious, HERE is what it looks like.

But the most awesome thing is that MY WEDDING DRESS ARRIVED!! ^_^ It looks gorgeous, and it just fits me but once I lose ten more pounds it will be perfect. So, the dress will be good motivation. I wish I could post a picture of it now, but tradition calls I must wait for the wedding day, but don't worry, there will be plenty of photos then. ^_^

In a past post I mentioned that instead of handing out favors for the wedding, Stu and I are going to make a donation to the SPCA instead and leave milk bones tied with ribbon explaining that. (Both of our families are big dog lover so we know they'll love this idea.)

Well, yesterday, my mom got another awesome idea. At weddings people will often tap their drinks to get the bride and groom to kiss and other weddings do something more silly like a person has to sing or say a quote from Star Wars. Well, Mom made a suggestion that in order for people to get Stu and I to kiss they have to agree to make their own donation for the SPCA (which can be any amount they want) and I think this will be awesome. We'll have a jar decorated with dog stickers or something.

With this suggestion, Stu and I had the following conversation.

Me: So, I just our wedding will have a theme of stars and dogs.
Stu: So....the dog star?
Me: *hits Stu for bad pun*

Overall, I think stars and dogs are very us. XD

Today, Mom and I have placed the order for both my wedding dress and veil. I still need to try it on, but I have a good feeling that this is what I want.

for those who are curious:

my veil

my wedding dress

He he! The best part of the whole thing is that we're getting all of this for $200. I just have to laugh because when Mom and I went shopping in the states, we went to a bridal shop and their veils cost at least $400 (and there was a $700 one, which was nuts!)

With all those wedding shows about brides spending a fortune, I think there should be a show about brides who managed to have a nice wedding without going over their budget or going into debt.
