Today, I grabbed the Collector's Edition of Coraline. I would have bought the regular DVD, but the collector's edition has the documentary about how they made Coraline (which is REALLY interesting, I'm amazed at the detail they put into it) and also chats with the voice actors. On that note, I just clued in that the voice actor who does the cat is the same voice actor who did Goliath on Disney's Gargoyles. I can't believe I didn't realize that until now.

If you haven't seen Coraline, it's good, however, I will recommend that you don't watch it in the middle of the night by yourself. The climax can get rather creepy.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] gullwhacker also found a treasure today. While we were out getting Coraline, I spotted a DVD of the live action version of the Colour of Magic (which is the first book in the Disk World series.) So, needless to say, Stu bought that, so we got a couple of good movies to watch this week. ^_^

I saw that Coraline was available on iTunes and thought about downloading it, but maybe I'll go grab the DVD instead. ^_^

I adored Coraline. Is the collector edition 3D? It was the first 3D movie I ever saw and that effect made the movie even creepier (the scene where Coraline has escaped and there's a distant zoom of the Other Mother gave me chills)

Just the ending? I was in tension for the entire movie :D

Both the regular edition and the Collector's Edition have both a 2D and a 3D version of the movie. I haven't watched it in 3D yet, so I'm curious to see what that experience will be like. ^_~

The behind the scenes stuff on the DVD is really interesting. For most stop motion movies the main character just has one type of clothes, but Coraline wears different clothes all the time, so she had her own wardrobe. Just about everything in the movie is hand made. The puppet makers even goes as far as knitting Coraline's sweater and gloves.
