Here's a preview of a Slayers drawing I'm slowly working on. Remember when I talked about trying to make my own masks? I got the idea when I was designing drawing Zel and Amelia's masks.

I especially liked the design I thought of for Amelia's mask, its' so pretty. The design for Lina's Shabby like mask must be credited to [livejournal.com profile] secondlina I just love that idea. ^_^

My main problem now is deciding how I'm going to colour this. I'm thinking of either doing:

1. Computer
2. Water colour with some pencil crayon (I'm leaning towards this idea the most)
3. Just use pencil crayons again.

What do you guys think?

*ponders* Have you tried maybe sketching an outline onto the mask, then using gouache?

Hmm..no I haven't. I thought of using acrylic, but maybe gouache would work better. I'll have to put it on my list of things to try.

One of the methods I thought I would try with the masks was to glue and decorate with tissue paper, but I like the idea of using gouache. *ponders*

That looks awesome! All the masks are great. I love Gourry's matching Jellyfish mask and bowtie, plus Pokota's outfit is hilarious. XD Having human!Zel with the chimera mask is a really good idea, too.

I'm not sure what would work best for colour (it's been ages since I coloured anything on actual paper...) but if the water colour and pencil crayon combo is what you're going for, I think it would be nice to see. I've always liked your pencil crayon colouring. ^^

I think color pencils would add charm to the picture -- not sure how to explain that but pictures colored on the computer are sometimes a little "too neat". If that makes any sense lol. Water color with pencils might look really nice too. I say follow your instincts. If you think the water color would look best then you should go for it, y'know? :3 Whatever you choose I'm sure it will come out looking great -- you're off to an excellent start.

Thanks! I love adding Lina's hat. I had a lot of fun designing the masks.

I have to admit, I'm now also thinking of using a combination of markers and pencil crayons. It's so hard to choose. XD

Thanks, I couldn't resist to adding more jellyfish for Gourry giggle. The masks designs were fun to do.

Yeah, computer colouring was an idea, but it just doesn't feel right for this drawing. I think for this, I like to do a combination of either watercolour and pencil crayon or maybe even markers and pencil crayons (Yeah I just thought of that as an option too.)

I will be sure to post the final result. ^_~

Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that lol. I think it's because computer-colored pieces are uniform and pretty much perfect/error-free whereas you can see all the strokes, slight color differences and/or minor imperfections in traditional works. So it gives it that kind of charm. :3

Cool! I'll be looking forward to it. ^o^ Markers sound like a good option too.

you got that right!
the computer methods tends to be too bland so it takes more skill to make it as lively as traditional mediums.

I remember this! I love the final image, looks amazing. Careful, one of those cups is breaking the space time continium around the punch bowl!

Thanks.

*looks at cup* Yeah I see what you mean. I'm going to try and fix that.

That's true too -- unless you add details like highlights and shading it seems kind of flat. lol y'know, this is kind of making me want to go back to traditional coloring for awhile. :p
