It's So Fluffy!

Got back from seeing Despicable Me.
Overall, it was cute and amusing. Does it beat Toy Story 3? No, and you can predict where the plot goes at points, but like How To Train Your Dragon, just because it has cliches doesn't mean it's not a good story.
I love the fact that they got real kids to voice Edith and Agnes. It just makes them twice as cute, especially for Agnes. She just has some of the cutest/funniest lines. The rest of the voice actors were great two. Steve Carrol and Russel Brand were great. I kind of wish they had used Julie Andrews more, because she was hilarious as Gru's mother, but they were pressed for time setting and developing for plot.
The minions are hilarious to watch. I can tell they're a big toy making opportunity, but I can't deny they are both cute and funny.
There are a lot of heart warming moments two, especially near the end like with Gru reads them the bed time story he wrote.
I saw it in 3D (because that's the only version my theater got and thankfully Tuesday are half price days for tickets) but it would have been just as fine in 2D. Although, I will admit there is a cute bit regarding the minions after the credits. It's almost like they're mocking the use of 3D and there are a few scenes that make a good use during the movie without it feeling repetitive, like the roller coaster.
There are a couple of plot holes like, why Gru didn't just steal money from the bank, but then again seeing this is the ultimate super villain bank they're probably prepared for that. However, I'm willing to let it slide.
Overall, it was cute. I would put it slightly above Sherk Forever After. It doesn't beat How to Train Your Dragon or Toy Story 3, but it was good for a laugh and if you're in the mode for something cute.
And I can't help but think Despicable Me could easily take placing during the Incredibles when Super Heroes went into hiding. That would explain why there are super villains but no super heroes. It's a crossover being to be made, I tell you! ^_~
