Title: Characters Protest
Series: Mystery Incorporated.
Rating: G
Summary: Shaggy and Velma have a chat with the writers.
"Guys are you sure you don't want to think about this some more?" Fred asked.
Shaggy replied without turning his head as he and Velma continued to stomp down the hall. "No, like, we're going to give those writers a piece of our minds!"
"That's right!" said Velma as she got her list of things wrong with the show. "I was fine with this whole melodrama at first, even though I didn't agree with it, but these last few scripts! They're ridiculous!"
"But are you sure you want to yell at the writers?" Fred asked. "I'm sure they-"
Daphne grabbed his shoulder. "Let them go Fred, they have a right to be angry and nothing can stop those two right now."
Fred sighed. "I know, I just hope this doesn't make things worse."
Down at the end of the hall, Velma and Shaggy found the office with the words "Writers work room."
"You ready?" Velma asked.
Shaggy puffed up his chest. "Like, you bet!" Shaggy gave a shift kick to the door. The started writers jumped from their seats. One of them blinked. "Oh it's you two, good. We got the nice script ready-"
"Not so fast!" Velma snapped. "We got a bone to pick with you!"
"Yeah," Shaggy agreed. "We like the fact that we have our relationship public now, but the way you're writing, it's, like, not us!" Shaggy glared and folded his arms. "First, you're making Velma sound like some kind of control freak!"
"Me wanting Shaggy to stop saying 'Like' and wear tighter pants?" Velma tapped her foot in fury. "I have known him for over 40 years, I think I had time to GET USE TO IT BY NOW!"
One of the writers rose from his seat. "Now, now, I know you weren't thrilled with the idea, but we're adding drama-"
"And we get that!" Velma replied, trying to sound calmer. "However, there are other ways of doing it without making me and Shaggy not acting like ourselves."
"And on that note," Shaggy replied. "This whole Scooby doo not be ready for this relationship in the show is silly! Who do you think played match maker with us in the first place?!"
Velma recalled that night. Shaggy had invited Velma over to watch a monster marathon with him and Scooby, apparently it had been Scooby's idea. However, when she and Shaggy came into the living room to watch the marathon, Scooby had mysteriously vanished. Velma had been certain she heard Scooby snickering in glee from somewhere in the house. It took awhile for both of them to realize that Scooby had actually set them up on a date. Sneaky little devil, Velman recalled.
"If you keep this up," Velma cried, "Shaggy and I are going to take this up with the cartoon characters union!"
Shaggy blinked and whispered into her ear. "Wait, there's a cartoon characters union?"
"Not yet," she whispered back. "But Bugs and I have been discussing it for awhile. I'll fill you in on it later sweetie."
"Okay, okay!" one of the writers replied. "We'll take what you said into consideration. However, can we at least get through this script? It's too late to write a new one."
"Fine," Shaggy replied as he took the script. "But, like you guys better get your act together." The door slammed shut.
The writer stared uneasily at each other. "Should we have told them how we have Scooby actually getting jealous now?"
Suddenly they heard stomping, growling and barking approaching the door.
One of the writers sighed. "Too late, it looks like Scooby already found out about it."
