Last night, Stu and I were on a nostalgia kick and thus ended it up watching the pilot episodes of Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, which is broken into five part episodes.

Upon watching it, Stu and I were laughing ourselves silly over how overly complicated and pointless the main villain plot was. I get it that they had to extend it to that they had proper time to introduce all of the characters, but man, oh man is it silly when you really think about it. (And it's even more funny regarding that, besides Fat Cat and the Professor, you never see Aldrin Klordane, the big mastermind, again.)

To put it simply, here was the master plan:

Phase 1: Steal a large ruby and frame the detective that had been his enemy for years. This also lead to Chip and Dale having to get it back to prove his innocence.

Phase 2: Take said ruby to the arctic where it will be the power source for a giant moving laser cannon created by Professor Nimnul.

Phase 3: Use the giant laser, that could probably destroy buildings, to cut out a small island sized piece of ice and fly it back to the city.

Phase 4: Use the ice, and I'm not joking here, in order to chill a mountain worth of gelatin and build it right under the bank you want to rob.

Phase 5: Hit the gelatin so it vibrates and causes and GIANT EARTHQUAKE and causes the floor of the bank to collapse and thus get access to the money.

And this works.

I swear this is probably the most complicated and ridiculous Master Villain plan I have ever seen, especially when you consider that it makes the plot of the ruby almost pointless besides that it's the motivation to get the team together. I also have to wonder if it ever occurred to Klordane to just use the giant laser to break into the bank. It would have save him a lot of time and money. (Oh, did I mention that they hint he's been planning this for over a year. Pure genius! XD)
