The other day [livejournal.com profile] dqbunny and I were admiring fake desserts that people have made of out felt. As if this wasn't enough to get my sewing urge going, I then saw Megs post about her well done strawberry scroll cake So yesterday, I had to make this. A felt chocolate cake, although I still want to make strawberry felt dessert thanks to a good strawberry tutorial I found.

Anyway here are pictures. Be warned, I may end up trying to make more. They're just neat to create and look at.

In other news, I've been watching a lot of Darkwing Duck lately. You know, when rewatching some of the episodes, it's amazing what the writers were able to get away with. For example, here's one episode when Darkwing Duck has actually died and is running from the Grim Reaper. Granted, it turned out to be a dream in the end, but still I don't think that's something you would see in today's childrens' shows.

Maybe it's just me, but if feels like the old Disney afternoon shows (Darkwing Duck, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Gummi Bears, Gargoyles, etc) had a certain quality to them that you don't see in a lot of western childrens' cartoons today. There are some modern cartoons for kids that I think are equally good as the old Disney shows. Avatar: The Last Airbender, Stormhawks and Danny Phantom, are some examples that come to mind, but it doesn't feel as common with all the preteen Disney sitcoms being made and aired repeatedly...or that could just be the nostalgia talking.
