Well, I've started classes and it does look like my second term will be a bit easier than last term. at least I hope it will (crosses fingers)

[livejournal.com profile] secondlina I got your package today and I love it! (hugs) Thank you so much, I had no idea you drew a Zuko/Katara. It was a nice surprise. I'm planning to frame it and put it up in my room. I'll take good care of it. ^_~

However, I did discover a bit of interesting/distrubing news.

Long story short, M. Night Shyamalan and Paramount are going to make a live action movie based on "Avatar: The Last Airbender". @_@

I have to say I have mix feelings about this. While a part of me is excited that an Avatar movie is being made, why are they making it live action? Since this is going to be based on a cartoon series wouldn't it make more sense to make it an animated movie? I will admit, it would be interesting to see a live action version, but to me it would make more sense to make an animated movie first and THEN try making a live action version.

However, I'm biggest issue is that Shyamalan is the one making it. Now, I mean no offense to Shyamalan fans, and I have heard both bad and good things about the guy, but I find he's an odd choice for this. Surely, that are other people who would be a better choice, especailly since it's suppose to be a movie for children. I wonder what Mike and Bryan (the creators of Avatar) must think of this? I just hope that Shyamalan will ask a lot of Mike and Bryan's opinions while making this, otherwise, I'm going to worry what kind of movie he will make.

Did you see his newest movie, Lady in the Water? It was based on a bedtime story he tells his children, and it was really good for anyone who enjoys a good story. I think he'd be a good choice, personally. He's one of the better directors for telling a story during a movie, what with the pacing, and all. And while he has made many suspense films, that's not all of it.

I'd be curious to see what he makes. Since he does have children himself, I bet he'd do a good job to make it appropriate to children. (Live action is the odd part, though. People think it's cheaper than animation. I hope they pick decent kids for the parts!)

I agree with Ichiban: Shyamalan is excellent at making fantasy based series and give them a magical and legendary atmosphere. Imagine : Avatar with the beauty and quality of Narnia. It could be awesome! Not to mention he's motivated, that's more then what we can say for the new director of "the hobbit."

Truthfully, I really haven't seen any of his movies, only clips (I'm not really into horror/suspense movies) I was just a bit concern because I heard a lot of people complaining about the endings of his movies.

However, I value your and Secondlina's opinon a lot more, so if you think his movies and his directing skills are good, then I do feel alot better about him directing it. ^_^

I hope they pick decent kids for the parts!
It's a long shot, but I'm hoping he picks the original voice actors for the kids. Otherwise, it will be weird seeing someone else play their parts.

(nods) Okay, I'll keep an open mind about him then. If you guys think he's a good choice, then I'm not as worried.

And I will admit, it will be awesome to see how they create all of the bending techniques, not to mention all of half and half animales in the world too, especially Appa and Momo

Okay, I hate horror movies. Despise them even. Suspense, at least how he does suspense is much better because most of it is left to your imagination for most of the movie. (I am a nerd and love such things.) He also always ties in a lesson to the movie, which is an added bonus in my opinion.

You really ought to check out his movies sometime. I just saw Signs for the first time a few weeks ago, but it was an excellent movie, and the message was very touching.
