Batman...anime?
Mar. 12th, 2008 03:01 pmI just learned something...different. They are making an anime version of Batman. @_@ Apparently, it's going to be a direct video movie.

There's a bit more detail info Here
While, I'm glad the guys working on this are mostly the ones that worked on Batman: The Animated series...I honestly don't know what to think of this. Opinions?

I guess it just seems a bit odd to me. Just because you draw something in the anime style, doesn't mean that's it's going to be better. Good animation depends more on the actual storytelling and characters themselves than the style. "Martin Mystery" and "Totally Spies" are good examples. They're western cartoons, but draw in the anime style. They're not horrible, but there are other cartoons/anime I would rather spend time watching.
Mind you, there's also a tendency to take Japanese live-action films and do an American adaptations to it. There's a horror movie that was done like that recently, I forget the name though.
(Did you know they're making a live action Astro boy movie? An American verison I might add. @_@ )

Date: 2008-03-12 09:28 pm (UTC)I know what you mean about the cartoons that look like anime but really aren't. They're just trying to cash in on the anime market, really, and gain attention purely from the look. Personally, I loath American cartoons that look like anime. The animation is usually worse than in anime, the story is lacking, and the look just doesn't fit for the series.
