Okay, it's a bit late but here it is.

gang and wagon

The gang gets to ride a wagon. Frankly, it's the cheeriest moment in this whole episode.

hogtied Pokota

Lina shows off her cowgirl skills. She refuses to suffer alone.

Family drama kills

Family drama and angst kills...

bloody past

We discover Radok had a bloody past.

A real not nice past

Maybe a too bloody past.

Distrubing screams

Also, Amelia has distrubing screams.

VERY distrubing screams

VERY disturbing screams. Did I hear bone cracking? @_@

Creepy Eyecatch

.......................Creepiest eyecatch EVER!!

abel dies

And much to the audience's horror, especially for those who read the novels, Abel dies. ;_;

Xellos sphere

And then Xellos finished off Zumma. The fans are unsure whether to be scared or be intrigued that for once we get to see Xellos's actual form.

And this reviewer goes off to watch something bright and cheery to recover.

I really couldn't make that many jokes this episode. It was that grim. ^_^;

I know, right? This episode was so dark... O_o

I'm pretty sure I heard bone cracking too... lots of bone cracking... I'll be shocked if Amelia's got an un-injured limb after all of this.

And... ZUUUUUUMA! YOU KILLED THE ONLY BISHOUNEN I'VE FOUND NOT-BORING IN AGES! WHYYYYY?!

... That actually makes total sense...

T_T I want my 6th novel back... Why does it take people so long to read?

...Radok really was quite the looker in those flashbacks (except when, you know, he was crying blood and going crazy ._.).

The Slayers novels aren't even that long! I read and finished most of them within a couple hours of receiving them. XD

(except when, you know, he was crying blood and going crazy ._.).

There was a time in that flashback where he wasn't going crazy and crying blood? O_o

I know! I finished them all really fast, but nooo... I HAD to lend it to a theatre major! The theatre majors are ALWAYS busy. ALL THE TIME!

...Um...darn...in the eyecatch! That picture of him and his wife pre-kidnapping.

Aw. I'm generally pretty paranoid about my things being lent out too long, so if it's been a while, I'll start bugging people to get them back. ^^;

Hmm, I suppose there was that eyecatch... His wife was so cute in that one.

XD I'm usually pretty paranoid, too. It is only the thought that I am furthering the cause of JUSTICE in the world by lending out my Slayers novels that keeps me going without my sixth novel. *sigh* Lending things to art majors isn't nearly so troublesome.

Furthering the love of Slayers is a very good cause! You deserve a Champion of Justice badge! ^__^

YES! I AM THE CHAMPION! *parades around with Champion of Justice badge*

Hm, that, I have no idea. Maybe someone was babysitting him? I hope that one gets answered in translation!

Ha! Yes! Go go, and spread the joy of Slayers! XD

Spreading joy!

The bone cracking just sent chills up my spine. *shudders* I think that's way more scary then some horror movies I've seen.

I always figured the final Zuuma fight would be serious, but I never imagined this, that's for sure. O.o Poor Amelia especially! I think Lina was the only one relatively unscathed (and maybe partially Pokota).

I did like Lina roping up Pokota to keep her misery company, though! XD

And the horse! Let's not forget about the poor innocent horse. ;_;

*giggle* I did like see Pokota lassoed. It was the funniest moment in the whole episode.

Yes, the horse! I noticed it when I re-watched yesterday. T_T

Hee, that part was cute! I liked that as well as Lina and Gourry's high-five! ^__^

Did you notice in a later scene that one of the Lesser Demons had a horse face? I wonder if that's why the horse crashed and the group just abandoned it..

Date: 2009-03-03 07:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] earthstar-moon.livejournal.com
Oh no I didn't. Since Radok hired the lesser demons, maybe the horse was too.

This guy right here:
Photobucket

You remember how Lesser Demons are made, right? A very low-ranking Mazoku merges with an animal to create a Lesser Demon. It's kind of cool that we're finally seeing Lesser Demons that resemble what the anima once was (instead of the 'normal' Lesser Demon version from the movies/OAVs), but it's taken me some time to get used to it, too.

Anyway, I'm not sure if that Lesser Demon was one of the horses or not, but at the same time it shows up in a later scene after the cart crash.

Hmm...it can certainly be argued that it's possible. He looks far too similar to the horse. I think it's a safe theory.

I do think the little gag at the beginning was the highlight of the episode. No idea exactly what was being said, but my mind says this:

Lina: "I'm riding with Radok, guys!"
Zelgadis: "Too bad for you, we're going to have more fun back here!"
Amelia: *as she leans into Gourry* "That's right, we're going to have a great time!"
Gourry: *nods*
Lina: "Darn it!"

I need to make a crack icon from that beginning scene, actually. Darn you, homework!

(Also, I don't have time for it now, but I looked at one of the scenes with Zelgadis in next week's episode. He's underwater...and happy???)

Maybe because the barnacles aren't sticking to him this time?

O_o I was confused by that part of the preview too - although the previews haven't been particularly informative this season. Oh well, that just means more episode.

From: [identity profile] earthstar-moon.livejournal.com
See what I mean when I said I wasn't sure how to describe that scene. @_@

Hmm...maybe the whole gang is in the jar instead of just Lina going in like in the manga? I am really curious for next weeks episode.

You could try with some more boob jokes at Amelia's expense. They were even showing a good view of her butt at some point XD. Also, Gourry gets his share of tentacle rape bondage, finally. Maybe his pectorals are bigger than Lina's breasts?

Yes, scariest episode of the season. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the rotting corpse of Radok's wife o_O
What were his motivations in the novels,instead?

Date: 2009-03-03 01:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ray-wing.livejournal.com
That's the strange thing. He didn't seem to *have* much in the way of motivations in the novels. According to him, he just started having these urges to kill and decided to sate them by taking up a "side profession" of assassin. Very odd.

From what I recall, when it was first announced that Zuuma would be a character in Revolution, Kanzaka said that there would be backstory in the anime that he wanted to have in the novels. He didn't write it in, though I don't remember why--either it would take too long or he couldn't be bothered. XD;

Date: 2009-03-03 02:56 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] earthstar-moon.livejournal.com
Yeah, I think Kanzaka said he just didn't have room for it or something. But I'm wondering what his past has to do with Lina, since he said in Revolution he started to kill because of Lina? Maybe the subs will shed some light on the subject.

auriga: (er well now...)

Someone gave a rough translation in one of the threads somewhere. It was that thieves with a grudge against Radok's father kidnapped Radok and his wife, but the thieves were killed in Sairaag (I assume when Copy Rezo blew the place up). So he'd already snapped, and then he was cheated out of his revenge, or something like that.

Date: 2009-03-03 03:00 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] earthstar-moon.livejournal.com
OOOhhh, so with the whole copy Rezo business or just the plain fact Lina could have killed the thieves during one of her bandits raids..yes, that makes more sense.

Date: 2009-03-03 03:02 pm (UTC)
auriga: (you betcha)
From: [personal profile] auriga
It really is a big help! I had heard Radok say "Sairaag", so I figured it probably had to do with that, but it's nice to get more of the story, too.

The Gourry bondage didn't quite have the same effect. I think it was because the only things on Gourry the hair could've wrapped around would have pushed the rating waaaaay beyond the PG-13-like level we're used to seeing. O_o
