Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] gullwhacker and I went to see Ice Age 3. I was worried that it wouldn't be as good because it's hard to keep up the same quality for 3 movies, but I was pleased to find out I was wrong.

I loved Ice Age 3! It had a good story, it was hilarious to watch, the characters were still as interesting and I loved the new character Buck.

I wasn't surprised to see Manny being over protective of Ellie (especially considering what happened to his first family) but I honestly thought it was still going to be brought up at some point in the third move. It did surprise me that we don't see Ellie and Manny talk about this, but I can see why the writers left it out and I'm rather glad.

The people who saw the first movie, know exactly why Manny is over protective so it wasn't needed to be explained and taking time to explain it might have taken too much time away from the main plot. Also, it can be assumed that Manny told Ellie about his first family at some point which probably helped her understand why he was being so over protective. And I just loved their new baby at the end, she was beyond cute.

Then there's Buck. I love Buck! He is both insane and awesome at the same time. He probably had some of the best and most memorable lines in the movie.

Manny: When did you go insane?
Buck: Three months ago. I woke up married to a pineapple, an UGLY one. I loved her so.
Others:.....

In conclusion, Ice Age 3 is probably one of the better movies to see this summer. It's worth seeing.

I was actually waiting for the tragedy of Manny's first family to come up as well, but same as you I'm kind of glad it wasn't. It wasn't needed as a reminder for why he was being overprotective. I think it's kind of interesting that he had a little girl though. It looks like he originally had a son, so having another son right away might have brought back some of that pain from his first loss. Plus...Peaches was so BEYOND being adorable and pure essence of baby!

And Buck is awesome. I really enjoyed his character. ^_^

(I'm thinking a marathon of the first two movies is in order!)

(Oh good, I'm not the only person thinking that.)

I also thought it was nice that Ellie had a girl just to have another girl in the group. Poor Ellie, it must be hard being the only female. XD But Peaches was so adorable. I loved her reaction to seeing snow for the first time.

I did watch both movies after work last night, so the third movie not mentioning Manny's original wife and kid does make perfect sense. It wasn't needed, and given how long pachyderms in general are pregnant before giving birth, I'd think Manny had plenty of time to get over any last hangups regarding the whole thing. All three movies connect together rather well. I can't wait to add the third movie to my collection! ^_^

You know, in a weird way, Manny having a sweet little daughter reminds me of my oldest brother having his first child. He was wanting a boy and wasn't exactly excited to have a daughter, but she was just so adorable and sweet that it didn't take long for her to melt his heart. (And now he has a son, so he can have the best of both worlds.) Babies in general are so much fun! I'm a bit sad that this ends the Ice Age movies, so we never find out if Sid or Diego found lady friends of their own and had families, but I guess I'll just have to be content with what we did get.

Ice Age! I didn't like the second movie very much, to be honest, so I'm glad to know this one is good.
What about the squirrel in his eternal quest for the nut?
I watched only the trailer and his encounter with that foxy female squirrel is hilarious XD

By the way..have you seen the new Harry Potter movie? I'm planning to see it as soon as possible, but I don't know if I'll like it: the six book is by far my less favourite of the series (awesome Snape, impossible to stand kid characters..)

Oh Scrat! XD (the squirrel) His little side story is hilarious. I don't want to spoil you if you're going to see it, but if anything else that's worth seeing. He even got his own little song written for him. (Although, I can tell you if you want. Just let me know.)

I haven't seen the new Harry Potter movie yet, I'm now sure if I will or not since the six book doesn't appeal much to me either.

I saw the HP movie. It's AWESOME.
It's basically all the good part of the books, without the bad parts (=Harry is not a jerk who thinks he's cool and Ginny is not a queen bee from Mean Girls) and with the lame parts pictured in such a way that they are actually cool (ex. the felix felicis chapter)
