My Mom has gone off to visit both my aunt and to attend her Nursing reunion, so [livejournal.com profile] gullwhacker and I have the house to ourselves for the next two weeks.

For dinner, we thought we would experiment. Stu made dinner and I was in charge of dessert.

Stu tried making chicken carbonara for the first time and it was delicious! I would have eaten more if I had a bigger stomach. Luckily, there are leftovers for tomorrow.

For dessert, I thought I would try [livejournal.com profile] zenavvy recipe for a chocolate truffle pie. We haven't tried it yet because it needs to be refrigerated for a couple of hours, but the chocolate that I licked off the spoon tasted good. ^_~

That's pretty neat that you get two weeks for yourselves! It's definitely a good time to try stuff out. I think the closest thing I've had to chicken carbonara was a Quizno's sub of that flavour, but the real thing sounds tasty.

Ooh, I loved the chocolate truffle pie, and it's nice and easy. Enjoy! XD I posted the recipe for that crisp by the way, in case you're interested in that one.

Yeah, pasta is good. The nice thing about pasta is that there are so many different types of it. ^_~

It is good. It has mushrooms, green onions, bacon and of course chicken. I can try to post the recipe for it later if you want.

Also, we just tried the pie with some ice cream. Man, it's good and it's very chocolatey! Yum!

That would be great if you could! I'd like to try it when I'm allowed indoor cooking again. XD;

Glad you like the pie. Ice cream is perfect for something like that. Come to think of it, I bet mint ice cream would be really tasty with the pie. ^^

Yup! Here's the basics.

In a skillet, fry up around half a dozen strips of bacon.
Remove bacon, paper towel off the grease, crumble it up.
In the grease left in the pan - probably just a bit - sautee 1 clove garlic (diced), 1 cup sliced mushrooms, 2-3 green onions (sliced), and 2 chicken breasts (sliced). Once cooked, put aside.
In a saucepan, melt 2 tbsp butter, and whisk in 2 tbsp flour. Stir in about 1 1/3 cup of cereal cream or half-and-half. Cook until it's thickening up.
Add 1/3 cup grated parmesan, the chicken-mushroom stuff, and the bacon. Optionally, throw in some frozen peas here. Heat it up while your pasta finishes cooking.
Makes enough sauce for pasta for four - I used a box of farfalle (bowtie pasta), but I think it'll work with whatever.

Modify ingredients as you see fit! Heaven knows I did...
