We had to take my dog to the vet this morning. Last night, I noticed that somehow Abby got a small wound on her right front paw. At first, my mom thought she had just pulled a nail, but this morning we discovered it was actually a small puncture wound. We have no idea where she got this or how it happened.

Thankfully, Abby's not in pain. She wasn't whimpering or limping, but she kept trying to lick it which at this point is a no, no. So, we made a vet appointment and put a bandage on her to keep Abby from licking it. However the little devil managed to slip out of six bandages as my mom and I got her ready for the vet.

The vet gave her some antibiotics to take for the next couple of weeks. We were already giving her pills for her arthritis, by slipping it into a meatball. So, now Abby will be getting two meatballs everyday for the next two weeks. I'm sure she's not complaining. XP

Also, the vet gave us some dog proof bandages that won't slip off so easily. They're a bright fuschia pink, so it looks like Abby is trying to copy 80's fashion. (It's quite funny actually). So, she's fine.

I love my dog, but I swear I've gotten a few grey hairs because of her.

I'll give her a hug and tell her it's from you. ^_~

She's been getting a lot of pats and hugs (I think she's loving the extra attention).

I've a friend whose Australian Shepherd is always getting sores that he keeps picking at. Animals don't run around in shoes like we do so it's very easy for them to step on things that cut them. (Or worse, get into fights with other animals like what happened to one of my cats.) I say if Abby still manages to get her bandage off she needs to don the Collar of Shame. ^_- That works very well in keeping animals from getting at wounds that need to heal.

We were considering the Collar of Shame, but so far it's been a few hours and the bandage is STILL ON! *gasp* So, lucky for her, it looks like she would have to wear it...yet at least. ^_~

*reaches back and pets Lil'Bit* They give us grey hairs, but they're so very worth it. Three years ago, I came home to find that Peekaboo had horrid runs. I flew about in a panic, trying to find a vet to call since it wasn't long after I moved to Arizona. I went into the kitchen and discovered that not only had he pried the kitchen drawer open, but had consumed an entire bag of catnip. The little stinker ... literally. ;)

Good thing it's not too severe. Pink power for a good recovery! ~.^

Perhaps there's something outside she could have stepped on, like a nail. At least she takes pills fairly easily, too. O.o

Agreed -- the love of a pet is something special so what are a few grey hairs here and there? As long as they are happy it's worth it. :3 I wish Abby a speedy recovery. Give her hugs and luffs from me.

The only thing we can think of is that she caught her paw on the fence (we have a fenced in yard) or a stick. We have no idea how it happened.

At least she takes pills fairly easily, too. O.o

*nervous laugh* Yeah....it only became easy to give her pills within the last year because we finally thought of putting the pills in a meatball. Before that, she would eat around the pills or start eating it and then spit it out. @_@ Pets, you love them and they can drive you crazy at the same time.

They can drive us crazy, but we do love them. ^_~ Besides, it isn't the first time Abby has given me grey hairs and it probably won't be the last.

Aw, poor thing. At least she's doing better.

You're right, you gotta love 'em, but they can cause stress sometimes. The same can probably be said for all pets, though. ;p
