Day #2: Your favorite princess
Belle

I hard a hard time choosing between Belle and Tiana, but in the end I thought I should go my favorite Disney princess in my childhood. Out of the all the princesses, Belle was probably the one I could relate to the most. As a kid, I liked how she had brown hair like me and was also a major bookworm. I always wanted to be able to do Belle's trick of reading and walking at the same time without bumping into anything at the start of the movie. That would be a handy skill.

Plus also, I liked the aspect that even though she was beautiful Belle felt like an outsider just like the beast. They didn't bring up the issue again later in the movie, but she and Beast did have a good chat about that in the broadway musical. She's also stubborn and knows how to fight back. How many arguments did she get into with the Beast? That's quite a feat when you consider that most people would just barely able to say a word due to being so frightened.

Gusty, original bookworm. She's also one of my favorites.

Belle can kick butt. I don't like how they seemed to have dumb her down when they started the Disney princess line. Also, she does have other dresses besides the golden ballgown. @_@

Walking while reading a book is easy! I used to do it all the time on the way home from school - provided I had a new book to read. The trick is to be on a relatively smooth surface, like a road or grassy area. As long as you can see what's well beyond you over and around the book you're reading, you ought to be fine.

Speaking of reading while walking, did you ever spot Belle doing just that at the start of The Hunchback of Notre Dame?

(Did you see the Broadway version? I loved it! They restored some of the missing scene with Belle and Beast reconciling and bonding in the movie, but it's still not as drawn out as the Broadway version. I love that it was Belle that asked Beast for a second chance.)

Right! I forgot about that scene in Notre Dame.

I haven't seen the "official" broadway version, but my high school performed it as their musical one year. Also, I got the soundtrack and that little talk is part of one of the songs. ^_~

I sure hope you recognized Belle's voice in the Broadway version. If not, I might have to harm you... O:)

If you ever have the chance to see the Broadway play, do so. It's really good! I do think it's great that Disney has allowed for local production groups and schools to perform the play. A couple of years ago we had at least five local groups putting on the play for Christmas. Pretty crazy!

Nope, I recognized her. ^_~ I thought it was awesome to hear the same actress sings more songs withe Belle.

I would love to see the play. I saw The Lion King broadway play in Toronto. Maybe someday Beauty and the Beast will come to my neck of the woods.
