Day #20: Favorite sequel

Originally I was going to post Bambi II because it's one of the few sequels I love more than the original, but then I remember another sequel that I thought was well done and it's one of the few to be released in theaters.

It does make sense for this sequel since Wendy does have a daughter named Jane in the book who also goes to Neverland. I do like how they made sure to make Jane different from Wendy and it makes sense since Jane is growing up in the middle of World War I. I love seeing Wendy as a mother and it was nice to have Wendy and Peter meet briefly in the end.

My only complaint about this movie is that they don't really resolve the issue of Jane and her brother having to go to the country. Maybe the whole family decided to go together?

I was a bit iffy about this movie. Then again, I don't like most peter pan adaptations. I love the dual flying though! That was great! The animation was also really decent, probably because it got a theatre release.

It's not a perfect sequel, Bambi II would have to be the best, but I would say it's probably one of the better ones made.

I remember what you told me about the Peter Pan author, so I don't blame you for being iffy. @_@

The iffy-ness isn't so much about the author. More about Peter himself. He's kindoff a vile character. And most adaptations make him so nice and healthy... it's odd to me.

There's not anything to resolve about Jane and her little brother having to leave for the countryside. That evacuation really happened during the second world war since Germany was bombing England's cities and the citizens wanted to protect their children. Many who lived in the countryside opened up their homes to take in the children until the warring ended. (Including C.S. Lewis, who of course later based his first Narnia book on four children also separated from their parents during the war.)

I'd think Jane would be more receptive to the idea after getting a taste of the outside world in Neverland. ^_- (I was surprised by this sequel, actually. It was fairly enjoyable, and I loved that Wendy got to see Peter Pan again.)

Oh, I know it actually happened. I took a few history courses on the subject. I just meant that they didn't bring up the issue again in the end and it would have been hard for Jane and her brother to have to leave after just getting their father back. I was just saying I would have liked a bit of closure on how the family was going to handle it.

You'll just have to use your imagination. ^_- (As for me, I think Jane's venture to Neverland helped her not to be so uptight. She'd hopefully be more understanding on why things are as they are, and why she has to leave.)

I wonder whey Disney never made a sequel to Hercules. Because I love Hercules. D:
