Day #22: An underrated movie

Oliver and Company

It may not be the best movie ever made, but it still holds a certain charm. It's the retelling of Oliver Twist, but with kittens and dogs, but just looking at the style of clothes you can tell this was made during the 80s. ^_~ There are a lot of good characters in this and a lot of good songs, such as Why Should I Worry?

Also, Bette Millder is hilarious as Georgette. XD

Aw, I loved Oliver and Company! "Why Should I Worry" is such a catchy, memorable tune. In fact, as soon as I read the title, the song popped into my head (and will probably stay there for a long time, thank you).

You're right, you can definitely tell this was made in the 80's, but in that sense, it makes it retro and a little awesome.

"If this is torture - chain me to the wall!"

(*evil grin* My work here is done). I use to be able to sing all the words to "Why Should I worry?" as a kid. It's such a great song and I think that is my favorite line from the movie. ^_^

YES YES YES! Good choice! This movie totally deserves more love than it gets!

Oliver and Company is one of those rare movies I can watch over and over and never get tired of. I just love everything about it. And the Once Upon a Time in New York City sequence at the beginning never fails to choke me up a bit.

And I've also had Why Should I Worry memorized since I was a kid. That song is one of the coolest things Disney ever created.

I love Once Upon a Time in New York City, that is also a song that needs more love. This movie is a classic in it's own right. ^_^

Man oh man, do I love this movie! Every time it came to theatres, I would go see it. I was very happy when they finally released it to DVD so now I can watch it whenever I please!

Something I really liked about this movie was that Dodger was voiced by Billy Joel, who I already knew had a great singing voice, but who knew he could act? And Bette Midler stole the show as Georgette! This is also the first in a long line of Disney movies/series Cheech Marin has voiced for or starred in.

It's also interesting to note that Oliver was voiced by Joey Lawrence (of the Lawrence brothers). He had a cute voice as a kid!

Okay, I ought to just say this movie has a lot of quality actors/singers and leave it at that. And I don't mind it being obviously from the 80s since the 80s was my childhood! This movie is a more modern Lady and the Tramp in the sense that that movie remains classic to many since it captured the 1950s so well, while this one will forever remind us of life in the 80s. Big boom boxes and all.
