Day #25: Your favorite scene from your favorite movie

I have a lot of favorite scenes, I should probably do a top 11 list or something. There is a scene, well I should say two scenes. I always love to rewatch from a movie that needs more love; The Sword in the Stone.

The duel between Madam Mim and Merlin (it starts around 2:00 I couldn't find that scene alone in English)

and...

HA! Take that rotten foster brother, bet you wish you were nicer to him now. XP Also, I like the others knights that agree to give Arther a chance.

The magic dueling scene is still memorable to a lot of people. It more than anything shows the advantage traditional animation has over live-action since we can't magically transform in reality, but in animation fantasy is reality. I still haven't really seen much transformation in CG animation...sans the aptly named Transformers, where it was done very well (but not magically). Anyway, I've always loved the battle between Madam Mim and Merlin as well, but I always felt bad for her at the end. She doesn't seem all bad... Perhaps just a bit nutty in the head for living alone too long!

Man, my random knowledge is getting rusty. I'm not positive, but Walt Disney didn't have control over this movie, he actually let one of his right-hand men develop it instead. (At that time, Walt Disney was more interested in pursuing live-action film as well as developing more attractions at Disneyland, and laying the groundwork for Walt Disney World.) Walt was actually disappointed in the final product. Man, it's bugging me I can't remember who the man responsible for this was! It might have been Bill Peet, and Walt Disney's poor approval might have been one of the factors that led to their falling out.

Did anyone else feel really bad for the female squirrel who falls in love with Arthur when he returns to being human and she realizes she's lost her love? :( Gets me every time, she sounds so sad!

I always felt bad for that female squirrel too. She looked so heart broken. @_@ I liked to think she eventually found a real squirrel to love soon afterward.
