Symphonia Ponies
May. 3rd, 2011 10:51 pmI blame this combination on reading Tales of Symphonia fics and watching too many episodes of Friendship is Magic.
Kratos and Lloyd make very cute ponies I have to say. I'm thinking about doing more Tales of characters in pony form. (Yuri and Estelle are currently on my list.)
( My Little Lloyd and Kratos )
In other news, I recently rewatched the Munto anime . This series has a bit of an odd history.
Here's the AnimeNewsNetwork summary:
Akuto, the main source of energy is running low and the Heavens, a world of islands, hidden beyond time, floating above ours, has united against the Magical Kingdom whom uses the most energy. To save both the Magical Kingdom and the Heavens and restore the flow of akuto, the Magical King Munto must follow a vision and find the girl Yumemi in the lower world. Yumemi herself is just a normal girl except that she is the only one who can see the islands of the Heavens floating above. When Munto appears before her she starts thinking about hers and others responsibility to the world
It first just started as an one shot OVA in 2003, but then it proves to be popular enough for there to be a sequel in 2005. The only problem was the sequel ended on the most evil of cliffhangers. It wasn't until 2009 that we got to see how the story ended. They basically made it into a nine episode anime (anime as in they just combined the first two OVAs and then added three new episodes to wrap up the plot.) The anime did end on a bit of a cliff hanger, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the one in 2005. (Seriously, these writers are as bad as the ones for Reboot. They keep wanting to add more.)
What I like about this series is that the story doesn't just focus on Yumemi and Munto, it also focus a lot on Yumemi and her friends, especially Ichiko (who is one of my favorite characters.) I also find it interesting that we see Ichiko worried about Yumemi being dragged off to another world and she won't be able to protect her. She's just a likable character.
While the OVAs have been license the anime itself hasn't, so it's easy to find on youtube thankfully. And who knows, maybe the writers will feel like writing more to this story eventually.
