I just happening to be looking over the wiki list of Disney's animated series and what do I see listed?

The Princess and the Frog's Adventures in the Bayou (forthcoming 2011, already in pre-production)

Huh. This surprises me, I love the movie but I didn't think they would be able to make a tv series out of it. Although, I suppose you can do a lot with the fact that Tiana and Naveen are newlyweds attempting to run a restaurant. I clicked the link but it just goes back to the movie page and there's no mention of the tv series there at all. So, I'm taking this info with a grain of salt since I haven't found any further info on this anywhere.

Granted, I'm all for seeing more Naveen, Tiana and Charolette (as long as it's written well. I'll save my final verdict until I see it, if this is actually true.)

It could even be something like the Lion King cartoon, which didn't feature Simba at all, but his comedic sidekicks. ;) I imagine there's a lot that could be done with a cartoon spinoff, the bayou has a life of its own. If Naveen and Tiana show up, I bet they'll be as frogs and possibly explore some aspect of Southern lore per episode.

Sometimes cartoon spinoffs can be great. I was horrified when I learned Hercules got a cartoon spinoff, but once I actually watched it, I ended up enjoying it perhaps the most of any Disney cartoon spinoff. Go figure.

Unless this really becomes a sidekick spin-off or whatnot, I have trouble seeing how it could work. (Unless at least one of the main leads becomes a frog again for some reason, which would be horrible on completely different grounds. :/)

It could work fairly easily, they'd just do a time jump. Either have events take place during the part of the movie when the two were frogs, or perhaps something silly like using good voodoo to become frogs again to experience the bayou in a new way. ;) Considering how they've retconned other Disney movies, most anything is possible if the writer has a good imagination...and perhaps a slight dose of plausibility.

Disney's always been about The Plausible Impossible", after all. ;)

More hyper charlotte is always fun. I kinda want to see her hook up with that redhead she rejected.

Is it going to be a theatrical release or a straight to DVD release?

ETA: Never mind. I saw that it's a series and not a sequel.

I think this news is BS. The same page also lists "Adventures of Jenny XJ9" as an upcoming Disney series. Which is impossible because the original show that XJ9/Jenny appeared in was a Nickelodeon series. :P

A show about Tiana and Naveen running a restaurant together (and all the misadventures that come with owning a business) would be awesome. But, sadly, a plot like that would be considered too "boring" or "grown up" for the target demographic.
Also, the movie managed to tactfully tip-toe around the race issue without outright ignoring it. But if a TV series neglected that issue, it would come across as unrealistic. And I doubt Disney wants to stick it's foot in that bear trap!

Well, Doug was originally a Nickelodeon cartoon to and then it became Disney so it's not impossible.

As I said, I'm taking this info with a grain of salt, especially since it was just on wiki and I haven't seen any other sources for it. We'll just have to wait and see.

Good point! I can't believe I forgot about Doug!! ^_^;

And wouldn't it be fun if Disney did take the risk of having the Princess and the Frog TV show be all about running the restaurant and seeing things like Naveen learning how to do payroll and Tiana weighing the pros and cons of firing a popular waitress for being a flake. It could be marketed as an "educational" show if they did it like that. XD
