Last night, episode 3 of the new Thundercats series aired. Thankfully, for those who weren't able to catch it, here's the youtube link

Brief Sumamry: After burying Claudus, Lion-O declares they're going after Mumm-Ra to avenge his death. Tygra and Cheetara point out that Jaga had told them to find the book of Omens first, but Lion-O insists this is more important. (Yeah, I think most of us can see where this is going.) On the way out, they are joined by WilyKat and WilyKit. Lion-O says he doesn't want children along, but they still follow the group anyway. The group track for awhile, until they come to a sand sea and get captured by fishman pirates.

The Captain first says to eat them, but after Lion-O and the gang save the crew from getting eaten by the sea monster, the Ramlak, the captain says they're part of the crew. (Although the cook still tries to cook WilyKat and WilyKit, but they trick him. The captain reveals the wants to kill the Ramlak for destroying their home and he won't let anyone, not even his own crew get in a way. (Yeah, we can see the similarities here can't we?)

Since Lino-O understands his rage, he agrees to help the captain and he does. Tygra and Cheetra are rightly worried and it gets bad when the captain forces the ship into a bad storm. The ship literally gets chopped in half and the crew starts drowning. (A bit odd, since they are FISHMAN!)

Lion-O of course says that this is wrong and goes to save him, while the captain goes to face the Ramlak and gets killed. The crew and everyone is saved, but then the Ramlak appears and tries to also kill Lion-O, but he kills him and with the Ramlak dead the fishman's home is restored.

Lion-O (as we predicted) says he realizes how his rage was blinding him and agrees to find the Book of Omens before they tackle Mumm-Ra.

Meanwhile, it appears the Jaga is still alive and is being tortured by Mumm-Ra. He manages to resist revealing where the book is, until he is placed into an evil lantern and is forced to reveal where the book is.

I didn't expect too much from this episode since we're still early in the series. It's understandable why Lion-O wants revenge and anyone with half of brain can figure how who the plot will go within the first five minutes. However, Lion-O's reaction to his father being dead and his city destroyed was something that had to be address, so hopefully we can move on with the plot. Also, the animation is still nice to look at, I do wish they had a longer opening song, but they might be wanting to keep it brief so they have more time for story in the episode, so I can't blame them for that.

There wasn't much development for Tygra and Cheetara in this one, but I expect there will be later. (I will admit, I feel a bit of satisfaction from Tygra getting seasick after he was so cocky in the first episode. XD)

I love WilyKat and WilyKit, they're adorable and I like that they got actual kids to voice them so they do sound like kids. (At least, they sound like kids to me, but it would surprise me if they are voice by adults.)

My prediction is that Panthro will appear in the next episode or the one after that seeing as he is the last Thundercat to join the group. Anyway, look forward to the next episode.

Don't feel too bad, I honestly think the episodes just got uploaded to youtube. However, at least this makes it easier for you. ^_~

Does... it seem weird to you that the Thunderkittens have tails? It's just making me wonder if all T-Cats are born with tails and they fall off or get caught in swinging doors or something.

I thought going ahead and getting Lion-O's revenge/angst thing worked out all in one episode was a little rushed, but heck, we had a Captain Ahab fish guy, so it's all good.

Psh, I've been assuming Panthro was actually dead this whole time! It didn't even occur to me until just now that 'well duh, only the bad guys have said that! Why am I believing them?' XD

Actually, I learned this from TV Tropes. The word of god is that there is a caste system based on the tails. The cats with no tails are considered to be higher up, while cats with tails are lower class and have to live in the slums. XP Weird system I know, but heck history have had weirder rules than that. I can't help but think the Thundercats empire is similar to the Roman Empire or something with regarded on how they're viewed by the other species.

It was rushed, but granted I'm rather glad that we don't have to deal with an angst Lion-O for the next five episodes or something because that would have gotten old fast. And heck, nothing can wise you up faster than dealing with a Captain Ahab character. XD

I know Panthro is still alive since he's voice actor is still around and he's in the promotional poster for the show. (Heck, there's a two for him too.) I'm just wondering if he won't be joining the group until halfway through the show. It will be interesting to see.

Huh. Never knew that.

Psh, yeah, Lion-O Hamlet I can definitely do without.

Ah, see- I haven't seen any promo material. I wonder if he'll end up as the older, wiser mentor character since Jaga is imprisoned in the lantern of doom?
