RIP Jack Layton
Aug. 22nd, 2011 05:57 pmThis morning Jack Layton passed away. For those who don't know Jack Layton was the leader of NDP party in Canada and in the last election for the first time his party ended up being the opposing party in Parliament to the Conservatives.
I'm not surprised since he's been battling cancer for awhile now and my mom could tell that he wasn't doing well at his last pres conference, however, it's still sad.
While I was not a huge follower of the NDP, I always liked Jack Layton. He always state things as they were and he did try to bring focus on issues that needed to be addressed to help families especially those in lower working classes. While I didn't think it would actually happen I always did think it would be interesting to see him as Prime Minister
Two days ago he apparently a letter that he addressed to all Canadians. I find the last lines of it are the most touching.
My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.
All my very best,
Jack Layton
RIP Mr. Layton, we're going to miss you.
