This is a belated birthday drabble that I wrote for Isa, but the wedding ended up taking over so I didn't find the time to finish it until now.

Title: Attack Of The Puppy
Series: Namesake
Characters: Emma and Warrick
Rating: G
Summary: Emma didn't expect this to happened when she agreed to baby-sit the puppy.

It should have been a simple day. Granted, Emma hadn't expected for her neighbour to suddenly ask her to baby-sit her puppy Saint Bernard, Cody, for a couple of hours while she went shopping.

Emma didn't get why Cody couldn't be by himself while she shopped, but said it was fine. She left Cody to explore the house by himself while Emma went to clean the kitchen.

However, the abrupt onset of bloody screams caused Emma to break a dish and run upstairs to Warrick's room. Upon seeing the scene, Emma had thought she walked into a comedy.

On top of his bed, Warrick was holding his stool out as if he was a lion tamer, frantically trying to scare off Cody who was happily panting and wagging his tail in glee.

"BACK! BACK YOU HORRIBLE BEAST!"

Emma raised an eyebrow. Dogs probably weren't that common in Oz, but Toto was famous wasn't he? So, Warrick must know about them. "Warrick, what are you doing?"

Warrick caught Emma's gaze and pointed a shaky finger at Cody. "Don't just stand there! Get that dog away from me!"

Ah, so he did know about dogs. Emma sighed and leaned against the doorframe. "I get that you are scared of dogs," Emma replied folding her arms. "But he's just a puppy. He's not going to-"

"I'm not scared of dogs!" Warrick hissed and yelped as Cody lifted a paw onto his bed. "It's their drool and this one is a drool fountain!"

Emma's brain finally clicked. Right, Warrick would melt if touched by anything liquid. 'Liquid' included saliva which puppies, especially Saint Bernards, were famous for having in great quantities for licking people they like. The way Cody kept wagging his tail at Warrick was a clear sign he wanted to show his love for him.

"Oh good grief," she muttered.

"Emma," Warrick whined. "Please, help me!"

Emma scratched the back of her neck and lifted Cody into her arms which allowed Warrick to collaspe onto his bed. Emma realized that Jack would be laughing his head off if he were there to see it."

"Come on Beast," Emma told Cody. "You better stay downstairs with me." Cody whined, but licked Emma on her cheek covering her face in puppy love drool.

She grimaced as she wiped the drool off with her sleeve. Okay, so maybe Warrick wasn't completely wrong about puppies.
