Slayers Revolution 8
Aug. 22nd, 2008 10:02 amSaw episode 8 and even if it was technically both filler and plot it was good.
Flan and Zollan's Return
This episode already won points from me upon seeing these guys again. They some of the most adorable henchmen I've seen. They're no doubt minor characters, but I'm glad that they were more then just filler characters.
Wizer and Xellos
My pairing senses are telling me that this will become a favorite new crack pairing for fans...and I really can't blame them. I like how they interact with each other. Xellos seems both surprised and amused by Wizer. The only other person I recall getting that reaction from was Lina. Mind you, I don't buy Wizer's dumb act. After witnessing episode 3, Wizer had proven he can act dumb to find out what the truth is. I think he'll be a help to the gang later.
The Most Disturbing Cosplay I've ever seen
Seriously, I haven't seen anything this whack since that one eye catch of Gaav in the sailor school uniform. However, here were my reaction upon each scene.
Prince Wizer: Utena?! Ah man, this is going to be pure crack isn't it. Although, it scared me that it did seem to work on Lina for a moment there. Flan and Zollan, I think you play the cheering fangirls a little too good.
Knight Wizer: This is probably one of the more sane cosplays this episode.
High School Wizer: Stuart and I just laughed silly at this one.
Wizer with Slugs: OH, MY EYES?! MY POOR EYES!! I am seriously thinking the writers this season are trying to see how far they can push us Slayers fans this season.
Finally, we have the final trump card. Wizer mentioned Lina's family especially her sister, which just scared Lina silly. It was funny, but I honestly don't think Lina is THAT scared of her sister. In the manga (The Lina and Naga ones) Lina mentions it was her sister who encouraged her to go out and see the world and she even mentions she's a softie for big and little sisters. Sure, since Luna is the older sister Lina is probably used to dealing with her wraith when she caused trouble, but I still don't think it's to that extent.
Flan and Zollan eyecatch
Cute!
Xellos Battle
Oh man, Stu and I just stared each other at shock. Taking Xellos on wasn't even done in the novels and for good reason. They're really showing Xellos's more evil side this season. I was sad that Gourry didn't get to do much in this fight. Poor guy does need a better sword. Personally, I think whey they go to Gioconda's castle, he's going to find the blast sword or at least something. That's my theory anyway.
Lina's Plan
And thus, we see how they got captured like they did in the manga. No doubt, the next episode is going to be how it was in chapter 4 of the manga. That might also mean we get a peek at Pokota and Duclis's human forms. I can't wait.
