Hairspray

Got back from seeing Hairspray and WOW! While the movie was good, the live stage performance is EXCELLENT! Seriously, if you ever get a chance to see the live broadway version, I highly recommend it. There were quite a few good songs that got cut from the movie like "Momma, I'm a big girl now" and "In the Big Dollhouse."

Also, I noticed small parts of the story got changed in the movie and I find that the story in the live stage version makes SO much more sense. For example, "Without Love" takes place when Link is breaking Tracy from jail which just fits the song more I find.

But I especially found the characters were better portrayed on the live stage version, especially Penny. I liked Penny a lot in the movie, but I loved her character live stage version. In the song "I can Hear the Bells" while Tracy is singing, Penny is desperately trying to find the "bells" Tracy's talking about and it's hilarious to watch. Also, I loved the ending with Penny's mom, much better than the movie.

So, in conclusion, Hairspray on stage ROCKS!!

OMG! This is awesome/epic!! I'll do my abridged tomorrow, but man was this good!
