Give me a fandom (or a few) you know I know of and I'll tell you exactly* what I think of:

1. The character I first fell in love with.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don't.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates.
5. The character I used to love but don't any longer.
6. The character I would shag anytime.
7. The character I'd want to be like.
8. The character I'd slap.
9. A pairing that I love.
10. A pairing that I despise.

(EDIT) Because I felt like it, I'm doing one on Avatar: The Last Airbender

Katara

2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now.
Zuko

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't.
Azula. Sorry, but I just don't like the girl. Way too arrogant and.....she was a VERY scary child.

4. The character I love that everyone else hates.
Um....Suki

5. The character I used to love but don't any longer.

Zuko

Iroh. ^_^

8. The character I'd slap.
Azula. I'm just waiting for the moment when she gets the shock of look on her face when one of the characters actually defeats her.

Katara/Zuko
10. A pairing that I despise.
Zuko/Mai (and no it's not just because I love Katara/Zuko)
I just don't think that Mai and Zuko would work as a couple. When you consider all of the hardships the guys had been through (ex: father burning him, being exilled, hunted down like a fugitive, etc) he needs a person he would feel comfortable to talk about this stuff with. Mostly likely someone who can understand his pain. Katara or Song would fit since both have experince similar pain. (Katara losing her mother and her father leaving to go to war, Song losing her father and being burned by fire nation soilders)
Mai however never had that kind of experince, plus I'm just not sure if she would take the time to try to understand Zuko, but then again maybe the girl will prove me wrong. However, I would have to see it to believe it.
