Big Week for older anime

Maybe it's just me, but this week really seems to have been a big week for older anime and I'm not just talking about the Slayers News we've all be squealing over.

First of all, another old school fandom is getting a nice surprise. For those of you familiar wtih TRIGUN, it has been announced that a movie is being made for 2009 HERE

Also, big news for the D.N.Angel manga, the author is FINALLY going to UPDATE it. For those who don't know, the author, Yukiru Sugisaki (as an awesome storyteller as she is) has a habit of working on a couple of different manga series at the same time. Thus, her last update of the D.N.Angel was about...2005. Considering her last update was in the middle of a very plot changing arch, I always thought it was a bad time to take a break from it. So, I'm very glad she's finally updating it.

I also learned that the classic anime Fushigi Yuugi is getting a new video game. And guess what? It's a Dating Game
That's right the player actually gets to become their own Miaka. Now, I was never really into this anime, but I can picture the fangirls of this series being estatic about it.

Also, apparently those rumours about making a live action DragonBall Movie were true...I'm sorry, I have serious doubts about this moive. I just can't see this ending very well. @_@

Finally, while this isn't recent news, I did discover something I didn't know about. It seems back in 1995, Hayao Miyazaki made an AMV for a song "On Your Mark" as a request by a rock group. I kind of wish he made this into a movie, because it looks interesting.

So yeah, anime wise, it's been an interesting week for me.

I did enjoy Trigun, I just never got around to owning it myself. Sci-fi Westerns are actually pretty okay. ^_- I'll be interested to see where they go with the movie.

That's the same with me. I liked it and watched it, I just never got around to owning it. So, I'm curious about the movie.

*sigh* I know, never mind the fact they made a prequeal manga series to Fushigi Yuugi. No, I'm not kidding.

Actually, I'm finding I do like FY Genbu Kaiden a lot better than the original series, and I still have the manga for that. Takiko isn't anywhere near as annoying as Miaka is. She's actually got a lot of actual guts.

Why must you kill my soul? X_X Actually, if I have any memory whatsoever (keeping in mind I saw Fushigi Yuugi well over a decade ago), I think Takiko, or whatever her name was, is referred to in the anime. Miaka's not the first to be sent to that world within the book, and if the franchise lasts forever, sure not to be the last.

And thanks! I don't get to use it very often, but I like to pull it out when given the opportunity. I still find it somewhat ironic that dear 'ol Zelgadis was the same voice for Tamahome. From sex magnet who knew it, to sex magnet who repels it. Hmm...

Agreed! ickaimp made the point that not only are the original fans now older (and thus can spend more money on the merchandise), but it's now being introduced to their children as well. The FY game is ... interesting.

Oh yes. I am so buying the new novels as they're being released. Wouldn't it be fantastic if a license for the series over here was announced at Anime North?

I really liked Trigun's anime, it had a very good animation and the script was funny ^^ so that's a good thing ^^
At least Sugisaki decided to keep going with DNAngel, I bought the 11 volumes ages ago (in Spanish)... both her and Maki Murakami have a bad tendence to take too many breaks and change from one series to another...
The DB movie... I don't have any doubt, I already know it's going to be a crap :/ (as well as the Evangelion movie)

*nods* Agreed. I think she's one of those writers that will get too many ideas, but has a problem of just sticking to one and finishing it before she begins another one. I've noticed that's also been the problem of Bleedman who does Grimtales and some other online comics.

*sigh*I had really hope the DB movie was a rumour. Why, must they make it? @_@

Yes, they should let it dissapear and be forgotten ^^u (at least the anime, I think the manga is still being published)
