Greetings From Waterloo
Jul. 2nd, 2008 10:31 amI'm still at Waterloo and I won't be heading back until Sunday.
gullwhacker and I are having much fun/snuggling time together. We managed to see Wall-e on Friday. It's my favorite Robot movie. I love that Wall-e and Eve were able to be so expressive and yet they only had a 5 word vocabulary. Plus, I loved the little cleaning robot Moe. You can tell the little guy was thinking "I WILL clean you!"
Monday, we hit Toronto. We first went to the Eaton center because I wanted to go to the Disney store (*cough*the closest thing I can get to until I go to Disney world *cough*) and I got a few Disney pins that were on sale. I got a Remy, Mulan, Maleficent (she's the only reason I watch Sleeping Beauty), Cruella and Marie from the Aristocats.
gullwhacker spoiled me and bought me a Beast plaushie. He was just too cute.
There was also this little store that sold almost entirely of Hello Kitty! merchandise. However, they also sold a lot of Mario stuff as well.
ichiban_victory you may want to know that I took a picture of what is probably the biggest Yoshi plaushie ever made.
Later, we hit the Labyrinth and spent about...an hour and a half just exploring. That place is awesome. I had such a hard time deciding on what to buy. In the end, I left with an artbook of Lilo and Stitch, Jim Henson's "The Labyrinth" (based on drawings by Benson Froud, although I was tempted to also pick up his "Faries" book too) and a collection of "Clamp" art. I'm not an avid fan of clamp, but I do love their artwork. The next time I'm in Toronto, I want to go back to that store.
gullwhacker found a few treasures also. He left with a Reboot artbook, and a Diskworld graphic novel and also an artbook. He was very happy to find them since he's just started to read the Diskworld series.
gullwhacker then showed me the movie The Girl Who Leapt Through Time It was really a sweet movie. It had nice themes of dealing with changes and growing up and handling first time love as well with a few nice twists. I liked the animation a lot, it reminded me a lot of a Miyazaki film, especially the style. I highly recommend it.
Finally, I learned something my fellow Disney fans might be interested in. According to this post in
froglegss Disney is working on another 2D movie and NOT just The Frog Princess one.
It sounds like the old Disney is slowly coming back. ^___^

Date: 2008-07-04 04:32 pm (UTC)Still, it couldn't be much more than an hour away from me, if that. So, one day, indeed!

Date: 2008-07-04 05:25 pm (UTC)I can understand why you're scared to drive in an unknown city. I'm scared of that too. In those cases, I either let someone who knows the city drives or I take the bus.
On that note, there are probably buses that come this way as well. An idea for the future at least. ^_~

Date: 2008-07-04 05:46 pm (UTC)The thing about driving is that I could just be going a couple blocks away from my house, but if I'm not extremely familiar with the route, I start to panic.
