Slayers Episode 5
Jul. 31st, 2008 10:52 pmThis weekend I'm heading to Nova Socita to visit my family and celebrate my grandmother's 80th birthday. So, if you don't hear from me much in the next couple of days, that's why.
Also,
ameban I'm done the line art and I plan to scan it and send it to you as soon as I get back. ^_~
Now then, Slayers Revolution episode 5 was fansubbed and here's my reacton.
Zel's new weapon:
Okay, when did Zel learn ninja moves? Of course, him being able to use his needle hair as daggers does make sense. I'm amazed it never occurred to me before.
Did anyone notice that when Pocota escaped Xellos's grip it was Amelia's head he choose to land on? Even if Pocota doesn't have a crush on her, this does at least hint that he trust Amelia the most within the gang.
Pocota's true identity:
Personally, I was thinking he was a prince of Ruvinagardo who got turned into his current state and overthrown by his brother or something, at least I was close. I'm getting the feeling that he was turned into the furry mascot he is now by Rezo and it was to guard the city until he came back to lift the spell. Or Rezo told him it he was to guard the city, but Rezo just use that as an excuse to experiment on him like with Zel. I wonder what Pocota's reaction will be when he discovers what's happened to Rezo.
Rezo didn't die?:
Then, there's the fact that the sleeping spell was suppose to break when Rezo did, but it clearly didn't. This could either mean that some part of Rezo is still alive somewhere (I'm sure Zel will love this XP...), or maybe the sleeping spell was tampered with so it was strong enough to continue it Rezo did die. I'm curious to see where this leads to.
The villains:
Out of the new villains, I think I'm going to enjoy Duclis character the most. I enjoyed him in the novel and it seems to me he has certain reason for what he is doing. I'm going to have to re-read that novel to refresh his story in my head so I can compare it to the anime version.
The Marquis...am I the only one that thought she was a guy at first? From the opening, since we only saw her face, I had thought he was one of those pretty boy characters. Then, when she came into full view and I saw the dress...."He's a girl?" So, that was a surprise. I'm not sure what to think of Ozel just yet. She seems rather strong for a maid though. It wouldn't surprise me if she turned out to be a Mazoku.
Xellos is working with the bad guys, didn't surprise me. I was expecting that for awhile.
And it looks like Zuuma will be showing up soon. I hope Gourry gets his new sword soon, because his fight with Zuuma is going to be awesome.
The next episode looks like it's filler, but maybe we'll get more background info on Pocota.

Date: 2008-08-01 10:13 am (UTC)If his anime counterpart is anything like the novel version, he has a soft heart in there. Then again, since he's wearing the Zanaffar Armor, he might end up being consumed by it like a beast man did in the manga.
(I really like how Duclis looks, though. I love the side shot when he's talking to Pocota. His profile looked very much like a human, but with the tiger features overlaying that. Still waiting to see if his scary tail made it into the anime version.)
As to Zelgadis' new weapon, he must have finally run out of daggers and realized that his hair worked just as well, but was also a free and renewable resource. ^_-;
(I'm guessing the maid is a ninja/assassin herself. She jumped far too high in a dress than a normal person could, plus, she has ties to Zuuma apparently, so...)
I knew the Marquis was female when I first saw the intro. I just thought she was rather scary looking. Crazy despot is written all over her face.

It's probably cheaper for him too. ^_^;
I wonder if Zuuma's son will appear in the anime like he did in the novel? That makes me curious.
I had thought the Marquiz was a crazy feminine looking man when I saw the intro. Although, even though I now know she's a woman, it doesn't make her look any less crazy. ^_^;
