Thundercats Roar- More please!
Feb. 23rd, 2020 10:36 pmOther night, I started watching the new Thundercats Roar show with hubby and honestly....I really like it! *thumps a mug Thor style* Another!
It is definitely a comedy, and I was worried the humor would be a bit too wacky for my taste (like Teen Titans Go! Nothing wrong with people liking it, but the humor aren't just my cup of tea) but it's not. A lot of the humor comes from some nicely placed running gags and deliberate homages to the original show. I was also afraid of some secondhand embarrassment for it, which is part of why I just can't get into Teen Titans Go!, but I didn't find it too bad for Thundercats Roar!
Also the animation is so good. The animators are having so much fun with the expressions and the action scene are just awesome to watch. It has has the best version of Snarf so far, hands down. Using similar background music to the old show is also a nice touch.
I did watch the original show as a kid, I don't remember a whole lot, but the show was clearly made by people who were big fans of the old show. Also, I will be bias but so far I much more enjoyed this reboot over the 2011 attempt. Again, I get why some people probably liked the 2011 version and are annoyed this was made instead of continuing that one, but I just didn't care for some of plot points they were going with and try as I might it just couldn't keep my interest in the end.
At the very least, Thundercats Roar! kind of makes me want to rewatch part of the old show just to check and see how much they're parodying and how much is original jokes. With that said, you don't have to have the old show memorize to enjoy the new one. Like I said, I don't remember a lot of the original show and it still makes me laugh and is easy to follow. It's a good show to watch with kids at the very least and still be entertaining for adults
Thundercats Roar is just fun and it makes me laugh. I don't expect a deep plot from it currently, but plan to keep watching it.
