A FANFICTION PRAISE MEME
And here's the second, snippets from upcoming drabbles/fanfics.
This first one is what I've been working on for the past couple of months. I have the rought draft all done, I now just need to go through it again and edit it and also have people beta read to make sure it makes sense.
The Backup Copy
Fandom: Slayers
“It’s a copy.” Zelgadis leaned his back against the glass of the tube. For some reason it made her skin crawl. She could never feel that relaxed if she discovered a sleeping copy of herself. Then again, Zelgadis had been living in this place for over a month. Therefore, he probably got over the creep factor of it.
“Rezo created it some years ago.”
Gourry coughed and raised his hands. “Uh Zel?”
“B-but why?” Amelia stammered, still not believing what she was seeing.
“He wanted a backup. It’s all in his notebook.”
“Zel.”
“I was one of his more valuable berserkers working for him, and thus it would be a great loss of man power if I were to die.”
“Zel.” Gourry coughed louder.
Zelgadis attempted to ignore it. “So, he created this copy of me that would be activated in the event I die-”
“ZEL!”
“Oh, for heaven sake’s! What Gourry?!”
Gourry rubbed the back of his neck. “Um, I do want to hear the explanation for this, but I have to ask. Are you okay with this?”
Zelgadis frowned. He wasn’t expecting that type of question, at least not at this moment. “I was shocked, even furious that Rezo had the nerve to copy me. I’ve been-”
“That’s not what I am talking about.”
“Then what Mister Gourry?” Amelia replied. She was feeling very confused about the situation too, but Gourry could be more polite and wait for Zelgadis to finish before asking questions.
Gourry sweated. “Zel, that thing in there is a copy of you.”
“Yes, that’s what I said.”
“A NAKED copy of you.”
Zelgadis sighed. “Yes, so?”
“And you’re all right with the girls seeing you in all of your naked glory?”
A was a long stiff silence entered the chamber. Zelgadis looked to his copy and paled. A series of screams were soon to follow.
Amelia covered her face with her hands as she fought her blush. “Mister Zelgadis, why didn’t you give him some clothes?!”
“I-it never occurred to me!” Zelgadis stood in front of his copy and held out his cape to block their view. He’d hoped it would preserve some of his dignity.
This next one is just an idea I have. I haven't even got an outline for it yet, but if/whenever I do write I want to include this scene. (Maybe I'll do this once I get the Backup Copy story done)

Crossover: Slayers/Batman: The Brave and The Bold
"I'm not a crook!" Lina snarled as she pulled at the oddly shaped bat handcuffs. Seriously, what was with this guy and bats. "You should thank me for stopping their evil ways!"
Batman turned at the next corner sharply. "You may have spilt up Kiteman's gang and burn his hideout, but you were trying to steal his loot for yourself."
"Of course I was!" Lina cried. "It's what I do. I find bandits, I scare and conquer them and then I take their loot as my reward for me stopping their evil ways. How are these guys any different?"
Batman actually bothered to turn his head to her. "I don't know where you came from, but in my town, that loot rightfully belongs to the bank and taking it from criminals would stil be stealing." His frown tighten. "And please stop gnawing on my handcuffs."
Lina paused in her chewing the chains and glared.

schmoop_bingo I know you guys aren't going to be familiar with Toma and Mikoto from To Aru Majutsu no Index, so here's what you mainly need to know. Mikoto is the Lina of this world with electricity powers and Toma is her Gourry (who Mikoto keeps trying to pick a fight with. XP)
Snow Frogs
Fandom: To Aru Majutsu no Index
Mikoto patted more snow onto the head. It still didn't look exactly like a frog, but in her opinion it was still cute. "I wonder if I could get some mittens for this guy."
"Does this thing even have arms?"
"Of course it has arms-" Mikoto cut herself off. She was suppose to be alone. Fear and potential humiliation gripped her stomach as she turned. Mikoto fought the urge the scream as Toma hovered above her. Out of all the people that could be witnessing this, why did it have to Toma?
He wrapped his scarf around his neck and tuck his hands into his pockets. "Don't you think it's too cold to be building snowmen?"
"They're not snowmen they're snow frogs!" Mikoto automactially defended realizing too late she was admitting to her crime.
Toma blinked. "Frogs? Oh, I see it now. Still, I got to say he looks more like a small fat snowman."
Mikoto fumed. She did not spend the last hour to be mocked. Sparks flew. "Prepare to die," she muttered coldly.
Minstrel
Fandom: Slayers
"Do you have a spare guitar?" All eyes turned to Zelgadis as he stepped forward.
The innkeeper stroked his chin. "I believe we got one in the storeroom, but it hasn't been tuned for ages."
"That's fine."
"Mister Zelgadis, what are you doing?"
Zelgadis smirked. "Getting our rooms." He turned back to the man. "Give me a guitar and I'll play for you. Although, I warn you, it has been a while since I've played one."
The innkeeper nodded. "Fair enough. Follow me, the rest of you can wait in the dining hall. If I like what I hear, you'll get your rooms."
The group stared in confusion as they watched the chimera follow the man into the back room.
Dayoff
Fandom Queen's Thief
Irene pushed herself out of her chair and gripped the chair's arm to steady herself. "I am a queen, I don't need rest."
"You are also currently seven months with child." The king tapped his fake hand against his leg. "And when you consider your fainting spell today-"
"I was not fainting," Irene expressed in an icy tone. She directed her gaze to the bed frame as she made her way over and sat on the edge, never making eye contact.
Cold
Fandom How To Train Your Dragon
He felt the twitch again. Oh great! Before he could moan, his head reeled back and the sneeze flew it forward with a blaring "AHCOO!" Toothless opened one eye as Hiccup wiped his nose.
Astrid sighed as she carried the hot mug of soup. "You need to cover your mouth. I'm NOT catching your cold."
This last one is done, I just need to double check spelling (oncegullwhacker gets back form Denmark. XD )
Edith vs Dash
Fandom: The Incredibles and Despicable Me
If it had been any other person, Dash would not have been worried. But this was Edith, the weirdest girl he had ever met and his arch enemy.
And Mom says I'm too young to have an arch nemesis. The pair had been rivals since the first day of school. Dash still recalled their fated encounter. Edith had entered the classroom and was tossing her book bag on her hook, when Dash had glanced over from his desk.
He had a right to laugh. The girl was wearing a huge fluffy pink hat! It was the dorkiest thing he had ever seen. Dash had teased girls before and what normally happened was one of two scenarios. Either a girl would roll her eyes and muttered about how immature boys were or blush and try to ignore him.
Edith would go in Dash's record book for being the first girl to glare, calmly come over and punched his arm. It was so hard and sudden, she knocked Dash out of his chair. There were a series of snickers from the other kids as Dash laid dazed on the floor, taking in on what had just occurred. Edith hovered above him glaring and said "Don't EVER make fun of my hat."

My idea is that Lina and Gourry (and possibly Naga, haven't decided yet) accidentally get sent to Batman's world and are split up. Lina meets up with Batman, and Gourry meets up with Aquaman. XD I'm still working out the outline, but hey once I start writing it, maybe you could be my beta reader since you know both shows. ^_~

I'd love to be your beta! I haven't seen every episode of Brave and the Bold; but I think I'm familiar enough with it to beta read a fun crossover fic.

Date: 2010-08-16 12:20 am (UTC)I shipped Velma and Shaggy before I knew the meaning of the word "shipping". So its insanely cool to see it become canon.
And I love what they've done with Daphne. FINALLY a Scooby show has found the right balance between the Bimbo of the original series and the Kung-Fu Action Mary Sue of the live-action films and What's New series. :)

I definitely preferred Daphne more here than in the What's New series and it's hilarious on how obsessive Fred is with building traps.

I'm a big fan of the original show, and it's obvious that the Mystery Incorporated team took a lot of inspiration from it (mainly in Velma's more sarcastic personality).
I also find it funny how Shaggy's parents seemed to be very up tight and high class while Shaggy is so Shaggy.
Shaggy's parents seem to have a freaky side, too. "Still Life Night" is still burned into my mind. >_<
